Kerr-gi FC are Champions at Sukuta
By Bakary Seedy Dampha

Samuel Gomez scored the only goal as Kerr-gi edge Freedom FC to the Sukuta Nawettan championship.
Kerr-gi started the match testing Freedom early in the 5th minute but Ablie Jobe failed to connect properly allowing Freedom to clear the danger away. And Freedom also took turn by testing the Kerr-gi defence. Striker Abdoulie Sallah collected a pass from the right before letting a powerful shot out wide.
And Sallah was again a bit off the mark when he combined beautifully into the Kerr-gi area but the goalkeeper was up to it clearing his line perfectly. But just before the end of the first period, Kerr-gi broke the deadlock when Gomez headed from a cross to put Kerr-gi ahead.
The second half Kerr-gi went on the offensive in a bid to kill the match earning some fouls as Freedom struggled to get the ball. And Lamin struck the cross bar from one of the spot kicks and the rebound deflected off the leg of a teammate and to the safe hands of Freedom’s goalkeeper.
With time quickly ticking away, Freedom turned the heat on Kerr-gi in a search for an equaliser. And defender Assan Saho could have leveled for Freedom in the 65th minute but his strike went out wide. Kerr-gi put up a strong defence in the remaining minutes to protect their lead.
Kerr-gi were awarded a trophy with a D15, 000 cheque and Freedom cashing D10, 000. Bammental FC‘s Alagie Bojang took the top goal scorer award, receiving a pair of football boots and D500, in cash. Freedom’s Abdoulie Sallah was voted the man of the match and was awarded with a pair of football boots.
