Foroyaa Editorial THE TRUTH WILL NEVER DIE Baboucarr Gaye died physically and will be buried this evening. But his spirit will continue to live because he stood for the truth. Whenever one thinks of Citizen FM one cannot but remember him. Death is a thief that no one can catch and be alive. Everything that be must also have an end but we must always strive to support the truth as this is what is honourable.
Among the living are the dead, the worthless beings that are out to destroy. On the other hand, we have the living among the dead. It is not the amount of wealth one possesses or the power one wields in one’s lifetime or how long one lives that is significant. What matters is how we live in our lifetime.
Honourable men and women will never be forgotten for leading honourable lives and setting good examples for others to follow. Hence their spirit will continue to be in our midst.
Baboucarr Gaye was the direct opposite of the gutter journalist who is always available for sale to the highest bidder or the foolish paranoiac, who shields himself/herself from bullets from a riffle with a cardboard. He knew that the job of a journalist is to disseminate the truth and nothing but the truth. He simply did his job as expected, irrespective of the consequences. He has been a sacrificial lamb. He is a good example that other journalists can learn from. Baboucarr shall continue to live in the hearts and minds of all lovers of truth. May he rest in peace.
