This months marks the anniversary of the disappearance of dear friend, a true fighter, kind hearted social being - Ousman "Rambo" Jatta. Please have him in your prayers: For the Osprey I Pray
Goodness God I am beyond In the midst of the confused Shifting the dust on my arm in refuge Why they have to take, why you: none but The thugs, the cops, the crocs, the chimps And whoever else is after us – but if they are not, Why so I do not know – for the sacrifice of the decent That has disappeared of recent In the midst of the deluge with incensed, intent I will be the friend in limbo; not cranking up a mambo Always steadfast with my hands akimbo While I contemplate on the fate of our darling Rambo
For this jumbo heart of the sterling is wasting Wherever else to seek him I pray with intent, incensed Why so I do not know – for the sacrifice of the decent In recent memories of the gestures and the healthful Exchanges of years past in amity and the dutiful At the vast serenity of the Osprey beach coast Engulfed in the breeze of the marveled Atlantic Beyond the horizon, I see the rays beaming straight up Soon shall we crank up the mambo for our dearly Rambo.

Modou, it is unfortunate the disappearance of good sons and daughters has become so common it is almost normal Gambian life. How unfortunate that is! Not that Gambians cannot stand up and say enough now! They have lulled the people into numbness to a level that is detrimental to co-existence as we knew it in Gambia of yester years. The last time I talked to Rambo's family and my friends who know him, they have almost given up hope of him being alive. Why shold that be the case after so many rulings for his release by the courts? It is utterly unbelievable how the regime is playing with the dignity of common folk. It is up to us all to stand our ground and see to an end to the illegal abductions of the Kanyibas of Gambia. These are all great sons and daughters who deserve our utmost attention to secure the liberty and dignity they deserve.....Thank you very much for providing a forum to voice our concerns.

Councillor Jatta Missing For Over A Year By Fabakary B. Ceesay
Ousman “Rambo” Jatta, councillor for old Bakau and Cape Point Ward, who was arrested on the 23 September 2006, has been missing for 373 days. He is presumed to be in detention at an unknown location.
Family members lamented that they have made frantic and relentless efforts to locate his whereabouts, but their efforts did not bear fruit. They threw light on the economic impact councillor of Jatta’s disappearance has on their family, especially their school going children. They said his sons always asked members of their family about the whereabouts of their father. They said the disappearance of Rambo has affected the education of his sons. His elder sister and mother were in tears as they struggled to explain the impact the disappearance of “Rambo” has on the family. They also disclosed that Rambo has been sponsoring about 240 needy and orphan students in Bakau and Brufut. They pointed out that those needy students are no longer benefiting from his benevolent gesture. They lamented that his detention has also impacted negatively on the tourism industry because he had in the past facilitated the arrival of many Scandinavian tourists to the Gambia.
Rambo, who is 38 years, was first arrested at his office at Cape Point on Saturday 23 September 2006. He was detained at Bakau Police Station before being moved to an unknown location. His family members have not set their eyes on him since then. Reports have it that he has been moved from one police station toanother. His lawyer, Mr. Ousainou Darboe, has, on several occasions, tried to secure his freedom through the high court, but to no avail.
