The other day i said freedom of speech also means someone might say things you don't like. You can enter into a discussion with this person and give him/her a piece of your mind. So, i said something that insulted you. You told me exactly that and i apologised, it was indeed uncalled for. You made your point and i bowed. Nothing funny about that. Goodnight again Shaka.

"but you could have come up with other examples of situations......." that is what is funny. Does censorship ring a bell here. By the way appologies accepted. GOODNIGHT!

Kondorong,
I have never hid my intentions vis-a-vis the blog. The masthead says all you need to know about the site: Keeping Panderry Mbai honest. So you go ahead with the legalese or should I say semantics. You can't defend the paper but whatever...

Thanks for the unsolicited free speech lecture. I sure don't need it...no seriously.

Its nice to see some reaction to Pa Nderry' reports against his fellow reporters/journalists. Once in a while you do say things about others who perhaps may not have access to the same medium as you and so could not react effectively to such statements. Here we see him being rebutted by his mates and not only that I sense him feeling the pinch ; just read him threaten yanks with exposure to the British Immigration Authorities; that act was cowardly and juvenile. Let free speech reign and that way we all can talk freely about each other knowing we do not hold the control buttons for such talking or writings. What you say about others should be expected to be said about you too bro and if the stone comes crashing into your glass house don't for god's sake run into the bushes crying foul. At times Pa shines but at times he just prattles on about people never mind how he hurts them. |Yeah the topics about governance in The Gambia may be in the public domain but i just cannot see it any body's business to tell on any other persons immigration status fake or genuine .He should just remember where we all came from The Gambia period .

Again you are "right" in all you said. Lets celebrate free speech. Its your truth, my truth and the truth which we all are seeking. Without free speech we will never know the truth.

Your blog also brings up interesting things. But you see, dont force it through my throat as your side being without a but. You have a stake in the outcome of his paper which makes you partisan. Isnt that enough reason for people to take your articles with a pinch of salt.

I have two eyes and two ears to see and hear. may be i dont have the brains to analyse like you do. Can you teach me please.

I don't know whether that is sarcasm or not,but the latter part is flattering, especially coming from you:the resident philosopher of the Bantaba.

Its no sarcasm nor is it flaterry. He who thinks he knows, only knows so much. I am ready to sit by your side and listen. I am not afraid to learn because he that asks for directions is never lost.

It is sad to know that some people have a very misguided notion about free speech.

"...Verily, in the remembrance of Allâh do hearts find rest..." Sura Al-Rad (Chapter 13, Verse 28)

...Gambian by birth, Muslim by the grace of Allah...

It is also very sad to know that some people have decided to spend their entire life to attacking one individual to a point that they have dedicated a whole website to that as though that is the only important issue in life.

Very sad. Isn't it. Like the mandinka say: niyeh kuno jeh jibi lal no ma, turr lal leh filta ma.

When did I try to force anything down your throat. That statement is a fallacy. To the contrary you are the one running around preaching free speech as if the rest of us barbarians don't know squat about it. All hail to the resident philosopher.

Kondorong went on to say:

I didn't ask anyone to take my articles whole sale. Show me where I intimated such a thing. To the contrary it is you who always take nderry's side in a subliminal way under the guise of free speech. Why did you find it so hard to say you love the rubbish he spew on other people and their families. I would respect that more than this free speech line you keep spouting.

If nderry writes coherent and constructive pieces like his peers at gainako, Gambiajournal etc, you wouldn't hear a beep from me. But if your idea of free speech is to defend obnoxious speech and lambast the critics of that speaker, then we are in trouble.

Kondorong,

Your friend nderry will be proud of you. You defended him so well. But you are out of gas on this one. So keep on driving on an empty tank and bon voyage. See you around mighty philosopher...ha

Compatriots,

Now that you have settled on solid grounds, will you accept to turn this page? By no means does this seek to offend either of you. Keep it in peace and don't tear it in pieces.

Sometimes it makes every sense to just let go. I am not out of gas, i am just enviromentally conscious to not just pollute the environment for nothing.

There comes a time when one should realise if it makes any sense to continue a line of discussion which infact is not generating anything fruitful. I personally accept that it was a waste of time all along but i always give the benefit of the doubt and thought we could discuss sincerely.

Now that its clear to me there is nothing good we seem to offer each other, it was time to move on. When i cease to learn something new, i move on.
