After more than a year’s detention, Vincent Jatta, former Chief of Defense Staff of The Gambia Armed Forces, Ngorr Secka, former Acting Deputy Director-General of NIA, Baba Saho, former Director of External Security of NIA, Ebrima Camara, former OC of Brikama Police and Sergeant Buba Mendy. Isn´t this a sign of improvement. Brother karamba, Jammeh is not as inhumane as you paint him to be. This won him more of my confidence in his will to correct a failed system.

Bread Man
Why were they detained in the first place ? By detaining people and releasing them after more than a year, that is not a GIFT to them but rather a THEFT of their valuable freedom. It is illegal to detain someone without due process of the law. Your headline is most fitting on this occasion. Jammeh has indeed done it again. |

Breadman: Let's be more specific here; if you were the one arrested and detained ( possibly tortured also)without any charges for one full year , even though Gambian laws require you to be charged within 72 hours; and then you are released without ever appearing in any court apparently because the government has no legitimate case against you; would you decorate (praise) Jammeh or condemn him for seizing your freedom , the company of wife and children , the support you provide to your parents and other relatives , the economic loss you incur for not working for 12 months, the mental and physical pain you suffered ? Would you still come with a big headline JAMMEH DID IT AGAIN?

| Breadman this indeed is a shame, you shouldn't brag about the release of a fellow countryman who has been detained for a complete year without a tangible reason or even being charged.this is an absolute mischief. |

Santa, kjatta,dembish and karamba,
The psyche of tapalapa is not an isolated one. This is true of the majority of gambians at home and abroad. What jammeh is doing is appalling but yet still they dont seems to care as long as their relatives are not involved.I am beginning to question the gambian mentality. |

Salmina,
Gambian mentality at the best extreme is still sound. The poisoning of souls that began in July 1994 is already taking its toll. It goes to explain how badly infested the national psyche of Gambia is affected. This greedy dupe of a creature has not only stolen our peace and freedom. He has also robbed the nation of good morals. All sectors of Gambia are affected in serious decay. It is possible to replace missing money and material. What we need fighting for now is this very decayed social fabric. That is why we need every slot of time to ensure the collapse of our society does not extend beyond this level of ruins. We are not dealing with a simple political situation. We are dealing with historical transition of a nation at risk. It is a cost to us. Jammeh had nothing to start with. Even if he is eventually dispossessed of his loots, it is from nothing back to nothing. Our national time, our share of human history cannot be rendered fruitless due to negligence. This guy (Jammeh) is not serious about life. |

What FAILED SYSTEM? Give us the characteristics and identify all that you can Breadman to tell us what warrants rectification of that failed system? A democaritically elected government was toppled and GAMBIAN POLITICS IS MORE COMPLICATED THAN THOSE TIMES.
Coming to those perceived as pardon. Many of these former law enforcements agents were part of the notorious state terror, political harassments and brutalisation. Hoever there are spirit of solidarity to express the need for justice, pleas for their liberty and sympathisng with their plights from us; IN THE INTERESTS OF THE NATION.
They deserve to be pardon but cannot tolerate to be used as PUPPETS jusr like Yanks to serve H.E. There release may be carefully considered and re-instated in their former positions to serve as AGENTS TO DO DIRTY JOBS and business as usual.
Law enforcement agents deserve HONOUR, COURAGE, DUTY & SACRIFICE as HEROES OF THE NATION!

| Brother(Breadman) its your right to support whoever you want even Jammeh. But there are things that are so straight forward. These people have been separated from their families for a yr without any charge. Jammeh should know that his governance is far from being rosy. Jammeh as a man may be harmless, but unfortunately his gov't's bad deeds have become inseparable from his person. It is up to Jammeh to cleanse himself. Its never too late. Let him organize a truth and reconciliation a la South Africa. This commission will look into things such as the deaths of Koro Ceesay, Deyda Hydara, Ebrima Barry and his fellow students, Omar Barrow, Lt Almamo Manneh, Lawyer Sillah assasination attempt, re-trial of Lang Conteh of the Central Bank and all dubious businesses from YDE, Money Shop, Kanilai Farms etc. That would be in the best interest of Jammeh. This is because Gambians can forgive but never forget. If he leaves it to the post-Jammeh era it would be hard to forgive him then.ALL WE WANT IS, TO KNOW THE TRUTH .AS SIMPLE AS THAT. |

My own brother (first causin)is a part of the releasees and if you go to my home today there is a lot of jubilation. |

Madi,
I am not going out of your context in your wording. I hope you re-visit. "...may be...: Madi
I am just a bit touched that people still doubt who Jammeh is. I personally think, people should ascertain his way-way of governance.

Madiba,
What makes you think Jammeh is not responsible for all the killings is a whole matter. If you still reserve a doubt about Jammeh's 100% involvement, here is a little reminder: In July 1994, Jammeh toppled a democratic regime with an intention to KILL. Jawara fled for his life. In his first public appearance, Jammeh announced his readiness to kill and bury anyone opposed to him, six feet deep. Since then, several citizens have been killed and buried six feet deep without doubt. Is this not clear that Jammeh prefers and orders these killings? We don't need expert opinion on simple facts like that. This is not a scholarly discourse. Plain facts on the ground need no magnifying glass for all to see. Jammeh descended on us with intention to kill. Now his ambition to kill has been fulfilled. What is there to doubt? Madi, you have brialliant postings but this bit on Jammeh is an unfortunate swing. It needs not taking ordinary thinkers to recognise simply manisfested reality. It is amazing how highly intelligent ones have to struggle in seeing to accept the same basic fact of life. |

"Thirty years of political difference. Thirty years of corruption....."Yaya AJJ Jammeh.
Madis, You name the remaining other 'elements' that he repeatedly categorised under that 'thirty years' slogan on those fateful days, still ringing my ears sharply like today's news.
What happens to all those slogans? They all difused in air..now..i guess.. but you were an active official at the time, and probably know more of those slogans compared to what is under the microscope today. but thanks for your piece .

Guys what do you expect, if PARANOID AND FEAR is the order of the day
Always CONTRAST between Jawara's 30yrs (former regime), on mis-rule, hardships generally encountered, institutionalised state terror, political victimisations, harassments, politisiation of the civil service, rampant firing from office, arbitary arrests, detentions in-communicado and mass murders.
Justification for toppling a democratically elected government and overhaul of a constitution was based on CORRUPTION and ACCOUNATBILITY. Presently Gambia is under anarchy and DICTATORSHIP or "ONE MAN SHOW OF POWER, AUTHORITY AND IMPOSING AGAINST THE WILL OF ITS CITIZENS!"
Can someone help on what is; "A FAILED SYSTEM"? Which system failed? Why it failed? What are the attributes of that failed system? Come on Breadman don't pretend to ignore the REALITIES OF TERROR exercised by so and so to its (The motherland Gambia) good son and daughters.
Why can't you support openly the party of your choice? Why A.P.R.C undermines everything at home? IS THAT NOT DIVIDE AND RULE POLICY i.e "You are either with us or else!"
I repeat that those law enforcements are Jammeh's agents and are going to be re-instated to continue the DIRTY JOBS under HIGH COMMAND! Refer to this topic to colaborate my facts as some names listed above link; are amongst those ENJOYING FREEDOM AND JOY WITH THEIR FAMILIES The pic i like to debate under http://www.gambia.dk/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3919
In simple terms, all complexities, complications, differences of opinions, party politics and riddles of Gambian politics are SOLVED WITH INSPIRATION FROM OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM! A BASIS FOR AN EXCELLENT CONSTITUTION AND HUMAN RIGHTS CHARTER!
The Gambian National Anthem !! Listen to it by clicking here

For The Gambia, our homeland, we strive and work and pray, That all may live in unity, freedom and peace each day. Let justice guide our actions towards the common good, And join our diverse peoples to prove man's brotherhood. We pledge our firm allegiance, our promise we renew; Keep us, great God of nations,
To The Gambia ever true!
