Anyone who thinks of due legal process in Gambia lives in the most illusive dream world. There are no LAWS in Gambia of Yaya Jammeh. Alhassan, you want people to risk going to Gambia and to establish projects. That is not practical. Anyone who establishes an independent project in Gambia will be seen as an underground opposition. Actionaid has been in Gambia for more than 25 years. When Jammeh staged his infamous coup, he targeted the development agency as being anti-givernment when they introduced their Rights campagne. A para-legal scheme was supported by Actionaid and Jammeh's government reacted violent against Actionaid. That is a developemt agency. How do you expect individuals to face the hostile political environment imposed by a monster regime? It is dangerous for anyone to try that. The truth is, Yaya Jammeh is not thinking of development but self perpetration. Worst of it, he has a fatal killer instinct. Such a person is unable to promote peace. Let us stop blaming innocent peace loving Gambians while we already know what the killer tyrant is doing.
Karamba, We should not be afraid so long we do not interfear with the countries politics. An NGO is a non polituical and religious organisation. There are many such in the Gambia and are operating with interfereance of the government. It always depends on how you manover. Karamba PDOIS has already a platform. Why not join them and have access to it?

Alhassan,
Point noted. PDOIS is a great organisation with good aspirations. Individual executive members are seriously committed to the word. It is unlikely that the executive induces the wider membership and sympathisers to uprise, showing how legally bound the organisation is. The current political environment in Gambia is so severely destroyed that all good messages from PDOIS continue to evaporate in thin air. Most Gambians perceive PDOIS in the context of WE AND THEM. On the right track but public mass mobilisation is still problematic. There is an urgent need for reassessment of strategies. Beyond all other concerns, PDOIS is still the political movement worth the name. |

Karamba and Bread Man, I must admit that I'm learning a lot from your constructive exchange of your different view points.
I'm interested hearing from Uncle Momodou, uncle Konds and Mardis their views regarding this issue. |

| No matter what they say about the man, I stand to disagree coz itīs just a smear campaigne against Jammeh. If any one comes up with concrete evidence that can convict Jammeh in a court of law, then am willing to evaluate it. However as of now itīs just a group of intelligent people wasting their time against Jammeh. They can as well join him and rectify any wrong that is attributed to him. If you cannot defeat me, then join me. |
