Actually, Tam is right. I dont know much about Serere culture. My ancestors came from Sine and settled in the North Bank area. My family adopted mandinka as a language and ethnicity, but my dad up until he died identified himself as a serere and hence myself. Its good to learn more about my ethnicity from you guys. |

You see, I told you didn't I? ha!ha!h1!

Why did you live it so late to find out about your history. Just like you, my father past away many years ago. But I always wanted to know were I came from. I've always been nosy from a very early age and wanted to know the history of our people etc. Thanks to my father and my dear uncle who is a well respected historian in Senegambia, I managed to gather the information including my own research over the years. You know what they say, when an elder dies, history and knowledge dies with him/her.

I have made a concious decision to instead spend my time to learn a more complete and enduring history. My serere background was lost to my family generations ago so I decided to hold on to what I have now.
When my ancestors moved to the west bank they completely assimilated and adopted mandinka as their new ethnicity. |

Sorry for the late reply. It is obvious - doesn't take a brain surgeon. Anyway lets let that issue slide. |
