according to reliable sources in the gambia ,our head of state is still harrassing shereif Dino Hydara of wasadu foni .
what was the reason for yahya harrasing this young shereif ? the most authentic is narrate as follows : before the last presidential election yahya disparch a deligation of elders accross the country to reaffirm his commitment in contesting for the coming presidentail elctions .so this elders included Alhagie Banding Drameh ,Imam Abdoulie Fatty , and two more elders the other is the Amirul Haji can't remember his name .this deligation went accross the country with yahya's message to the country's elders .when this delegation reach foni ,they pay a courtesy call to sherief Dino Hydara of wasadu a very authoritative figure in his region . the delegation deliver there message to area elders on behalf of yahya jammeh '' we are sent by the head of state to tell you that he will contest for the on coming presidentail election ,so he is duty bound to you elders ''.in mandinka '' mbe karafaring alma '' can't transalate it in english may be some else can .
so after the delegation finished there breifings ,the area elders say their own part ,but this didn't went well .as usual some of the elders will only say what the president's delegation want to hear but this time sherief Dino lashout .he told the delegation comprising of the eminent and eloguent imam Fatty ,the oratory Bamding Drammeh ,the amirul Haj and the forth person that '' how on earth can you betray the trust of the country and the muslim communitee by engaging in politics ,you should be ashame of yourself by delivering a political message to gambian's ,your role is religious leaders not politicians.he went on i lost the respect i have for all of you ''. sherief Dino drop a borm shell .the delegation knew mr sherief Dino is right ,so in there embarrasment ,they went ahead and told mr president witch doctor that sherief Dino Hyadara is an oppossition and he is against you .he told us off .
no surprise ,yahya started harrassing the sherief .he was to be arrested but escape and later surrender himself at the police sation .he was release but still he is been pested .the man is now in hiding .
a sherief is title for people who said they can trease there ancestry to the prophet muhammed (pbuh). let the dictator leave the man alone ,mr hyadar did not commit any crime .

In his wild bid to win, Jammeh ends up making tragic loss. It makes no sense that those who openly show their dislike for Jammeh, are being subjected to all the trouble in this world of devils. Transformation of Imams into Jammeh's political tools is no new game in Gambia. This brings to mind the debate about Democracy in Gambia. It was earlier argued that democracy has failed in Gambia. Was it people failing to apply the principles or the principles have been tested and proven failed? With our Imams too, is it failure of Islam in Gambia or the Imams failing Islam by principle and practice? yet these are higher men of very high positions in Islam-IMAMS!! |

| Things are bad, as for imams campaining for jammeh is not strange happening.Hence any town or village jammeh steps his foot during campaing, the Imamand and the Alkali must give a speak urging their people to rally behind Jammeh failure to do so will result to replacement.As for Bandin Drammeh he will openly campaign for Jammeh in his so call sermon on GRTS.Imam Fatty of recent is so scared of Jammeh that people are avoiding his sermons on GRTR nowadays.No wonder the country is in such a mess.Bravo Bishops in Banjul eg. Taliva Jonhnson, you will never compromise faith to nasty Plitics. |

| karamba , the problem is that those religious leaders allow themself to use as a political tool .there are many imam's who will not allow that stugeness .yaya is not god ,so why succumd to his tricks . mr hydara stood his ground so this cause the others to sell him to killer jilanka . i am not a full believer in secular democracy but if that is what people want in our country so be it .it need to be apply properly. |

You have seen the same thing in Senegal before and nowadays.
This things have been there all the time. Even Jawara used to do it.
I think some of these scholars have missed the correct path and are there only for their pockets. |
