Formby, I am a Gambian from top to toe. After three years at the teacher training college at Yundum, I taught in different parts of Gambia for ten years before moving over to Sweden. I’ve lived here longer than I’ve lived in Gambia, if that is to tell u how I like it up here. |

Babylon and Twinkly, please move on and agree to disagree. Your participation in this topic has become too personal and your contribution is no more enlightening. I would suggest you take a break.
Perhaps Bamba should have a final word and then we close this topic . |

The level of discussion needs to be raised beyond the personal. In a democracy we have to agree to disagree and surely bantaba is a democracy? |

I agree with Momodou into to. We don’t have to exceed the demarcations of what Bantaba is for. Personal attacks are inimical to the principles of democracy. Presumably, both Babylon and twinkly have smoked the peace pipe by now and a closure is in place |

Formby, the nobility of the teaching profession lies in its reward. Nothing is more gratifying than seeing ones former pupils/students succeed in life. No financial remuneration is proportional to such a reward. |

Well, you may close this topic if you want Momodou since you have the power to do that. Since Gambiabev and Bamba brought up democracy, it is my point of view that in a democracy people are allowed to say their opinion without having someone above in power to shut them down or close the topic, nomatter how heated or uncomfortable it may be. (As long as nobody brakes any laws or threaten someone). But if you think it is against democracy to personally attack someone, think again. Many politicians use these tactics on a daily basis. (So did heroes like Olof Palme, who we are remembering today -20 years after his death. He was very provoking and controversial, which also made him a very hated man here in Sweden -people either hated or loved him).
Although I must admit that maybe it did get a little too personal between me and Twinkly. This forum is OK but Many people here are not experienced or used to heated debates, as on Africaspeaks.com. for instance. As a matter a fact, I think I will sign up there today. |

Babylon, Bantaba recognizes the length and breadth of democracy and caters for it. When exchanges get overboard and become personal, one can contact the other through his/her email address listed in his/her profile by Bantaba and continue the personal attacks. A provision is made by Bantaba for out of Forum contacts. The decision to subscribe to any forum is a democratic one and a free choice.

Bamba the world needs teachers like you with attitudes like yours!Especially here in the UK the system is very mixed up, I believe.I know of middle-aged teachers with years of experience and they don't get a job anymore. The Government wants young, newly qualified teachers. And there is a high level of supply teachers who give no stability into the educationsystem.Maybe Gambiabev can shed some more light to this, as I am not 100% familiar with our system here. How are things in Sweden?Or maybe we should open up a new topic on this......trying to move on......

To both Serenata and Babylon, please continue to agree to disagree. It’s a teaching lesson for black Africans. In black Africa when common people disagree, disagreement gets to storage waiting for vengeance. When common man/woman disagrees with authority the consequence becomes elimination. There’s a lot Africans have to learn from the interaction of whites. More educative polemics, the floor is yours.
Bamba, you are really malicious... !! Sorry I couldn't continue to disagree for the last days. I went to a small village, enjoyed clean air and the fact no computer was in reach...
Babylon and gambiabev, it is pure nonsense to say I am belittling white women. Twinkly understood what I mean - there is a big difference between rudeness and strength; I would even say the ruder you are, the weaker you must be. Could be the working class heroines you were talking about follow men's grandious error... I would not call nagging the whole day through strong. Submissive behaviour is just the other side of the coin. This is totally different to the attitude of the Gambian women I mentioned. |

Oh no Serenata!!! I am not malicious at all. I never intended to hurt or embarrass anyone. The floor was theirs until the square meters of the hall became no longer spacious. Exchanges, like anything else, can encroach on boundaries of forbidden zones. Besides, enough is enough. I wish I had more time to face up to your challenge; I have a visitor right now. But I’ll surely be back to pick up the gauntlet. |

The reason young teachers are preferred is economics..they are cheaper! A teachers salary in UK has increments for service....
If you have a teaching qualification in uk, pass the enhanced vetting and have good health you will be welcome to teach.
Some areas struggle for teachers, these are usually areas that are expensive to live in and have high housing costs...some areas have no problem because people want to live there.
Some subjects are shortage areas...maths ict, science...because people can earn alot more money out of teaching....
So in short if you are prepared to live in the south east and teach science then you will be in big demand...if like me you want to teach primary in North Yorkshire there will be 100 plus people after every job! |

It’s apparent that Serenata has come back with full batteries ready for a fight. Maybe I also need a break somewhere to come back with fully charged batteries to face belligerent list members. |

How nice to see some cheerful words....
Your statement Gambiabev makes me rethink the situation.Maybe I should judge Britain as a whole, not just London.
.......The reason young teachers are preferred is economics..they are cheaper! A teachers salary in UK has increments for service....
I tried to translate the word increments but the german translation it gave me was Inkrement.Very helpful Does it mean (something like) influence maybe? That would be very bad.But let me wait......Don't wanna write about soemthing that nobody is talking about
Bamba, there is nothing wrong with your batteries, or can you bring us even better postings and thoughts, than you already did? Serenata, I like your qualmness, I will learn to ignore one day.....(not you )
