what happend here? What was the topic? at least we can see why the world is like it is...we are all different and unique with our experiencies. we canīt compare feminism in different parts of the world or even in different countries...because then women starts fighting and some "smart" men gives them more fire.and thatīs why it will take time before the real problems are discussed and solved. I feel sometimes that women are each others biggest enemies and many women want to carry on with traditions that men are ready to give up...or at least they say that I feel that sister omega is right with the most important thing: treat your daughters and sons the same way/ give them same duties and rights and it will make it easier in future. but thatīs not easy because we often donīt see the small mistakes we make...like saying that my son or my husband helps me...when they just do their share at home. it should be great if everybody in the family realize that they all live there and have to contribute.

My EX husband used to say he had ironed HIS shirt for ME! Or doing the washing up for ME...etc.....NOTE he is my EX!!! He thought it was a BIG favour to me!

In a house where both parnters work housework should be a joint responsiblity.

If the wife stays at home to nurture the children then perhaps it should be her responsbility if she is not contributing economically. But it is still nice for the husband to offer a helping hand....especially if he doesnt want his wife to be too knackered for sex!

Is this 50/50 stuff in marriage really viable? Can two captains run a ship? Sweden is one of the most gender equal societies in the whole world. Yet, in Stockholm, every other household is a lone mum with kids. Is 50/50 in Sweden a utopia?

Yes indeed, in Sweden we do have lots of single mums. And why is that? Is it because some women chose a bad, irresponsable man to father their children who abondoned the woman as soon as she got pregnant? Or is it because some egoistic women decided that that they can raise their children better off alone and just kicked their man to the curb for no other particular reason? Or is it simply because the man canīt handle the demands of an equal 50/50 relationship and chose to leave the woman (or vice versa) because he is a male chauvinist pig who demand royal treatment at home?
And is it always a failure to be a single mum today? As today we have more family types than just the avarage nuclear family (=husband, wife, children).

Despotic leaders will never let go voluntarily their might/power. By the same token, partriachal might sticks to its archaic power over women. Unless the problem of gender equality is redressed thru school curriculums, the problem will persist. Men of this era have probably not been prepared earlier to make space for liberated women.

It's no failure to be a lone mum, the failure lies in not preparing men for a fiminist evolution.

May I ask Which men are you referring to? Is it men in general or men from certain cultures?
Because I know of many men (mostly swedes but also some africans) who have no problem having a 50/50 relationship or problem with accepting women who demand equal rights. And what is feminism really? I would not like to call myself a feminist but humanist. Equal rights for all that is.

YES I am humanist too......if we treat others with compassion and how WE would like to be treated...just imagine how many of the worlds problems could be solved by that simple act.

White women were not served their rights, they grabbed them on democratic basis. The African men in 50/50 relationships have to go by what society prescribes.

so how will you prepare despotic leaders to become demogratic? same way than we need to prepare men to become equal? with bullet or education? many men pretend they are equal before they get married or get children but when they feel they have "hooked" the woman, they start behaving like a child at home and expect their wife to be their mom. we no longer need to put up with that and if men havenīt notice this is coming, they must be blind.

evolution always take some time and if men are interested in equality, they will be prepared and even try to make it happen faster...if they are not interested, they behave like victims..in my eyes feminism is not against men but for equal rights. we mothers can teach our sons but we need to have support in that from their fathers and how can they give that if they been living in their own world where women are second class citizen?

INEZ I agree 100%.....

I want a man to be my equal...NOT my child. I DONT want to mother him!

Even in this day and age that kind of man is hard to find!

Gambiabev, one has to expand ones search premises. If u dont find what u looking for from a certain category, u move on to another category. A strategic search plan always helps.
