Gambian president Jammeh whose lawlessness is becoming too much unbearable has once more taken the law in his own hands. During a merry making occasion to mark what he calls his unending election victory, the president addressed a large crowd as though another rally. The thing about Jammeh not knowing what the occasion calls for is that he chooses to say what comes to his mind whenever and wherever. What has a president to do with water and electricity supply where a whole institution is there to serve customers? For president Jammeh to blast the public with threats that the NIA will arrest those who fail to pay their bills, that is seriously wrong. He could be the president but he is not the authority to sanction customers of a public utility corporation. President Jammeh does not respect laws and prefers to rule very unsystematic and heavy-handed. That is not what Gambians deserve. Why is Jammeh so gittery about what he calls opposition. To all you good Gambians, time is ripe that you look into the conducts of this president with critical attention.

Well, nicked by the NIA for not paying bills hmmmmmmmmm well this will probably have the disired effect people who can afford it will pay their bills thats for sure but those who have no money will not therefore the pledge to bring electricity and water to everyone in the country will probably be met because there will be MANY MANY people who decide not to have electricity now. In the old days of NAWAC they had their own unit to manage disconnections that actually worked until someone with a bit of clout got disconnected for not paying his bill and had a word in the right ear,the unit was disbanded now that the president has made it VERY CLEAR to everyone unless you are VERY WELL connected your cries not to be disconnected will bear no fruit at all. |

| Well Karamba, he is the energy minister and remember that there are people who owes hundreds of thousands of dalasi for electricity. May be such a bluff will make them pay. So I stay with the idea for now and see if there will be any arrests. Electricity is one of the only problems Jammeh couldnīt tackle satisfactorily, so may be he wants to wear the uniform again for that purpose. |
It is the mark of intelligence to entertain an idea without accepting it. |

Rather than overloading himself for no genuine reason, Jammeh should have empowered institutions. His desire to act being ALL AND EVERYTHING is dangerous for the country. There is a legal system and the utility providers have agreements binding them with customers. It is very much unethical for Jammeh to make this open call on a platform that does not suit it. What stopped him from calling the properly instituted body and to seek sound technical and professional advice? Because Jammeh feels he is above all laws, he says and does things without observing protocols. That is wrong. Him being The Minister for Energy is no good reason to relay that message on open platforms. He's got to learn and respect that without an orderly system, the position of PRESIDENT would not have been. Now he acts with this jungle mentality. That is serious cause for worry. |

| What a load of rubbish, I am sickening to death with his latest threats against the Gambia populace. Failing to pay electricity bills is not a criminal matter and NIA have no right to arrest defaulters. |

Santanfara,
In the same venue, president Jammeh is quoted as warning his praise singers that he is no fool to anyone. It has been written in this forum and many other Gambian websites that there are people seeking to fool president Jammeh. These are people (in their large number) who pretend they love him when behind they stab him hard. Now president Jammeh himself is peeling the shell off to let his many deceptors know that he knows the game. Where president Jammeh finds music in praises, who dares to stop anyone praising him. Will there be arrests for those who seek to entertain the president with flowery praises?
Look out for this one:

I wonder how long it is going to take us Gambians undersatnd how Jammeh operates? For Christ sake the guy now has direct interest in Nawec bills hence using his bull dogs who will eventually end up gnawing each others throats for failure to pay their electric bills. Jammeh has a direct stake in the company that is supplying energy to NAWEC so he cannot hide the impulse to ensure that the company is not bankrupt, that is the simple of it folks! Remember what happened to folks in Brufut when TAF embarked on his project there, what about the land grabbed from innocent folks in Foni and Manduar near Brikama by the same Jammeh? When are we going to get it that Jammeh is only interested in what will make his waramba bulge? And he will do whatever it takes including unleashing his german shepards! |
