| Sorry Karamba but these people don't deserve a rejoinder. Most of the time the Johnny just come to Islam think they are more Muslim than anyone else. A site that is already full of hate and mis-information don't deserve a rejoinder. A rejoinder would lend them credibility which they don't deserve. Let them wallow darkness and ignorance. |

There is reason to agree with your position about having to ditch them. On another dimension, silence may be perceived as constituting conscience. When a bully steps against your pointed shoes, a nail pinch will remind him that not all goes smooth. |

It says on this page http://www.kavkaz.org.uk/eng/about/ that the site is "Chechen independent international Islamic Internet news agency". The site is published and distributed from Sweden according to the Swedish text at bottom of the page.
There is another of their page with the title "Faith of Allah or Superstitions? Islam in Gambia Needs Purification" at http://kavkazcenter.com/eng/content/2006/11/02/6224.shtml where they culled some text about masquerades from OneGambia. |

Thank you Momodou for those details. Madis, you can see that this is not a one-of occasion. It is clear from their other issues that they openly target Gambia. In the views of some extremists, it looks strange for Africans being Muslims. Go to some mosques in London and don't tell me you fail to pick the odd eyes set on your skin as Black African muslim. It does look like sites like this one share those unclean sentiments. Perhaps it is better to pay more attention than flatly ignoring publications of this sort. |

Momodu thanks for the further clarifications. Unfortunately many mis-guided non-africans discriminate us for being what we are. Its up to us to stand up and be counted in ANY field we may find ourselves in.
Karamba,I will give you an example, i had som arab friends, but whenever we meet up for congregational prayers they lead. So i observed one of them that he recites only one sura always. I asked him to recite other suras, failing which i told him that he will never lead me again. This is becos i am more knowledgeable inthe Quran than him. Despite these hiccups the enlighten ones are very very good people. I have lived with some caucasian Muslims too, most of the things they called shirk they do worst things. When they came in a particular country where i was resident at that time, they were refugees, they prayed and were very modest and gained the sympathy of most of the muslim brothers around. But when they settled down well, some of them changed their robes for western dress and starting going out. You know what i mean.
Its the ignorant muslims who discriminate other muslims. Almighty Allah in the Quran does not differentiate in His address. Allah calls us YOU WHO BELIEVE. |

This happens here in Sweden too. I think this brother has forgottened that we have a culture and not the Arabs. This is our difference even thou we are all muslims. You were right too to refuse the guy to lead you in prayers. I am sticking to my culture as far as I live. the rest is left to God to decide. I shall try and find out this site. |

To Alhassan and Madis, your examples are good enough to prove a case. In a given perception, some people fail to distinguish ARAB from MUSLIM. The fact that there are ARAB CHRISTIANS and free thinkers may look impossible to some people. The principles and teachings of Islam are clear on this. Under the eyes of TRUE BELIEVERS there are PEOPLE as addressed in the Holy Quran. Lack of total enlightenment conditions one-sided viewers to pass judgment here on earth as though people of other race and cultures are not genuine members of a particular religion. It goes for many aspects in social perceptions. Madis, your type of experience happened to a friend of mine in a London Mosque. In his case, he played it so that they allowed him take lead. By how he performed, the prejudicial members succumbed. |
