Hi everyone, I am getting really excited now. I am off to the doctors this morning to get my Maralone tablets. I am washing all my summer clothes. Then tomorrow I will be packing my case and going off to Manchester airport ready for my flight. I fly out early Saturday just in time for Tobaski! I am only there for one week and I am very tired from work, so I am not planning any long trips. I am visiting Pirang and Brufut and staying over night at the Ecolodge at Gunjur. I will be visiting a nursery in Serrekunda for the first time. In between I hope to catch some sunshine and have a couple of nights out. I will post about my trip on my return. Money permitting, my big trip to the villages will take place at Easter.

I am packing tomorrow morning, then going to airport in afternoon, flying early saturday. It is less stressful to sleep at airport especially with all the local fog we have. I drive myself there. Gives me chance to get my head ready for trip, mkae the list of everyone I need to see and so on!
I always want to take so much stuff, but now they are very strict on the baggage allowance. It makes me sad to leave things behind I know will be useful, but there will always be another trip I hope! |

Flying early tomorrow from Bristol. Just been to Asda to buy children's clothes (amazing sales!!) I stay in the Kotu area. Been 17 times now (I think) and always stay in the same place. Several years ago almost bought a house (wish I had done!) but in the end the money is better spent on other things! The Hotel is relaxed, laid back and allows for a little time-out now and again. And is so full of familiar friends that I couldn't bear to stay anywhere else!
Safe journey |

Almost next door - at the Bakotu. Come and find us (I go with a friend). We are usually around late afternoon, early evening. Reception will point you in the right direction for the "two English ladies". (Though "lady" does make me laugh a little!). |

Enjoy your trip ladies. You realy making me jealous.. Anyway take care and kill the rams on a animal-friendly way on Tobaski. LOL
Don't forget the raw liver is for special guests. So don't be to late at the ceremony.

Well this is a question, and its a result of curiosity. Why do visitors always carry pens and pencils to The Gambia? hope its not too much of a stupid question. |

Hi Mano Sonko, yes, there is a ecologde in Gunjur now, just few km before the village on the bush on beach side, not next to the beach though but itīs really nice. They use mostly solar power, reuse the water, have their own garden and some nice huts. never stayed there but visited them a few times. Gunjur is still nice and relaxed place, not too much of anything there, no electricity or bumsters or tourists. the beach is so wonderful there, so wild and empty most of the time. I love Gunjur and will live there one day... |

ooh I'm so jealous of gambiabev and lily waking up this beautiful New Year's morning in The Gambia that there are tears in my eyes.
But hey - jealousy is such an ugly emotion. Instead I will concentrate on hoping that they are having a brilliant time.
