Right, kondorong, this is a democratic duty. Otherwise, and the psychodynamics of power I mentioned prove it, democracy is a contradiction in itself.
Demecracy is bigger contradiction in Africa where the electorate are accountable to the elected. We fear people we elect into office than ourselves. They can choose to practice virtue if they so wish.
In yoro Bawol, its as though we are stateless. We dont see anyone here. |

You bet.
In Africa, you are better off if your elected officials dont come around. Atleast, you can keep your goats and sheep for yourselves. They are so heartless that when they come, they want your chickens for dinner. |

This reminds me of the G8 summit which will take place in Germany (Heiligenhafen/Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) next year. It is going to be so expensive that the people of MeckPomm hardly will see just one single chicken in their pots for 10 years... |

That is why politicians everywhere should be made to be responsible to the electorate. Power and money changes people so easily. Free speech is their biggest enemy because it exposes the wrongs which they so bitterly want to sweep under the carpet.
Being a journalist in africa is the most dangerous job you can do. |

You bet.
A German journalist who went to Equatorial Guinea put ca. 15 bibles (the president claims to be a big Christian) into his suitcase to stay unharmed, and of course he couldn't mention his real recherche, otherwise they would have killed him immediately or sent him back right at the airport. |

15 copies of the bible for protection? Thats a lot of Halleluyah
It reminds me of some public oficial in the gambia whose mother said she washed her son with the blood of Jesus for protection. It appeared in the papers. The son was fired i believed and used to work for in the legal profession. The name Gomez or mendy seems to come handy.
Is this another "re-civilsation" of the continent from the devil? |

SHE WASHED HIM WITH THE BLOOD OF JESUS??? Where the hell did she believe to have found it? If it was real blood, then the man surely looked spooky when he came to his office. If it was, after Catholic belief, the transformed blood, i.e. wine, then his bosses must have thought him to be a heavy alcoholic. He surely stank like a whole tavern. African and US Christians sometimes are, ahem, very special. But in Europe, e.g. Bavaria (home of Benedikt XVI.), there is also a lot of 'Christian' superstition. |

| Religion develops best in superstitous societies. The more superstitious one is, the more likely will one embrace religion of some sort. They move in the same direction although not all religious people are superstitious. |

| If found guilty then she must be punished. We all know that power corrupts so like my singnature states, "Justice must be served as impunity brings more repression and corruption!" |

Thank you, Santanfara - you are right!
Maybe this is something for some of the honourable Bantaba men to think about: Yahya gave women chances they probably never had before, and this is why they vote for him. In September I talked with several women in Gambia, and they all declared to vote for Jammeh. Some of the young women were really crazy about him - I suppose they see him as something like a popstar. Apart from this I understand them. If they don't do it already, the opposition has to work a lot on women's issues to keep up with Jammeh. |
