Dr. Saine is a University professor, and the very brainchild of STGDP.has let the gambia during the time of hard ship in the gambia in those days no one hear about Dr.Saine, why canīt he go back home and do the sturgle with the NADD members and he may even be the best choice if he is clearn from the Jawara era. He and Pa ndre are behind the problem we facing today including Wa-Juwara.we do not need another Jawara some one tell me the differenc beteween O.A.Jallow and the fomer presdent. Stop talking and tell your so call Dr Saine to stop fooling himshelf and you people who listen to him. Let him or back if he has the intrested of Gambians not one man or tribe.

Frankly , i am amazed by the kind of lack of grace exhibited by some contributors to this forum .Our differences in opinion should not be an issue here , rather the adherece to democratic due process and the rule of law should be the uniting factor .This is the ideal we must uphold and encourage in Gambian politics , where currently it is severely lacking . The leadership crisis that grips NADD is largely a crisis of democracy. That is why it is very troubling considering that it threatened the very ideals that NADD upholds . Based on my understanding , the flagbearer of NADD ( whoever is choosen ), if elected to presidency serves only one five-year term and cannot contest any subsequent election or back any political party . You know what , if this is true , it seems to me that the fuming power struggle between Darboe and O.J. is testimony that none of them will abide by that principle . What we will end up having is not going to be different from what we have always had .Where one person clings to power year after year. And if they become unpopular as their performance declines they will certainly become repressive. You see , back to square one !. A political science professor once said that , democracy works best in places where there is a contest of ideas , where there is no monopoly of ideas . In my view , this is why presidents need to come and go regularly . The Gambia needs to have a term limit ! And one more thing before I leave : For those who have misconstrued Dr Saine ' s comment , you have clearly missed an important point . That piece is objective and scholarly . We must appreciate that people of Saine 's standing sacrifice thier valuable time and resources to our cause . We must appreciate everyone 's contribution even if only at the level of ideas .Ideas are probably all that Gambia needs at this time to get on it 's feet . Thanks.

I dont understand why some people are attacking Dr. saine personally. Frankly personality politics gave birth to the current Gambia, Dr. Sain has express his personal opinion, like most of us do on this forum, this is not in anyway shape or form his professional authority. if you disagree, surely you can make a counter statement. That is what is call democracy. Lets the opinions battle it out, the best shall win. Lets stop personality attacks after all we all have freedom of thought .... a freedom that even prison have, the very basic of freedom. |
