In Sweden any one can check information whether your neighbour is paying TV Licence fees and how much he/she paid in income tax. The press have just used this information and two newly appointed ministers have already taken the consequence and resigned from the new government less than two weeks since it was formed. Two more ministers are expected to fall in the net.
Whats going on Cornelius?

Not only that Momodou, and thanks for that dua, the person of our soul sister Nyamko Sabuni ( as opposed to her proposed policies) is being attacked by a certain Kurdo Baksi and we will surely defend her to the last drop of our blood. One of her defenders was complaining to me, bitterly, just this evening, about her predilection for seizing upon the so called “ female genital mutilation” as a centrepiece of targeted legislation , getting close to the Hirsi Ali syndrome and she too is supposed to be some kind of lapsed Muslim who has completely lost her original bearings!
About the so called "female circumcision", one of our more promising short story writers Karamoh Kabba has written a story on a site where I would like to see some of our Gambian talents represented:
http://www.szirine.com/countrytemplate.php?id=49&title=Half_a_Pot_Full&author=Karamoh_Kabba&country=Sierra_Leone
Female circumcision? Some of our toubabus here on a mission will be foaming at the mouth. Why am I here? Bring it on sister and don’t blame me. You’ll only have yourself to Blame. You yourself.
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Hirsi+Ali&sp=1&fr2=sp-topprssweb=Search&ei=UTF-8&fr=slv2-&x=wrt&ei=UTF-8&SpellState=n-2677060024_q-SmIaLBlVFGMntk8QvGyUHAABAA%40%40
I would like to ask Babylon what relationship she sees between multiculturalism and integration. The Swedish language is said to be the key to the job market and integration..... and at the same time there is a generous budget for home language instruction ( which includes some culture transmission. The Gambian languages are taught as home languages, so that generations born in Swedish Diaspora can still communicate with folks back home...... so tired I must add etc.
I have some ideas about how to get jobs for minorities. It seems to be working in Britain with what is called diversity management –ä getting minoritieS to work …. Minorities, not just immigrants. I think that if the Social Democrats had had a more aggressive campaign and sort of revamped the SD into a New Labour type of BLairism and thrown a wider net - beyond the motto " Alla ska med" , Joe and S.D. would have succeeded. It's easy to say this now. Everybody is saying, and everybody wants to come back in 2010!
Last night the TV news was telling us that by the end of 2007 unemployment will have been reduced from 5.8% to 5% to something like 5% . During the campaign, "The Alliance" was giving the impression that by 2007 everybody will be working happily ever after.
Is the Eid ul-Fitr on Monday?
Goodnight,
Sleep tight....

Cornilius, I hope she is not being used as an new "Hirsi Ali".
-----------------
Quote: "The appointment of Liberal Nyamko Sabuni as integration minister is proving to be one of Fredrik Reinfeldt's most controversial choices. Sabuni, who moved to Sweden from Burundi at the age of 12, is the first black person to be appointed a minister in Sweden.
Her suggestion that all girls should undergo compulsory checks for genital mutilation (otherwise known as female circumcision) led to controversy. Sabuni was also attacked by Muslim groups for proposing a ban on headscarves for girls under 15 and the introduction of a specific mention of honour crimes in the criminal code.
Muslim commentator and author Kurdo Baksi slammed Sabuni's appointment:
"I am very disappointed that a person whom I consider to be an Islamaphobe has been appointed integration minister. It is a very poor start to a centre-right government's integration policy," he said."

Bro Mo
Brother Momodou
Asalaam alaikum! I’m in a very great hurry this morning but I hope this gives some idea of where we are at:
http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=22859_Islamists_Hate_Swedens_New_Integration_Minister
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=sv&q=Kurdo+Baksi+DN+article+of+6th+October+2006
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=sv&q=Kurdo+Baksi+DN+article+of++October+2006&btnG=S%C3%B6k
I’ll forward the article in question and translate it if necessary!
Let this be only the tip of the iceberg. When one of the Liberal Folkpartiet’s interns, with the full knowledge of some of the party’s hierarchy and main propaganda spin doctor WATERGATED the then ruling SOCIAL DEMOCRATS database, they gained access to very sensitive information, including the Education minister’s policy plan and so it was no surprise that they were able to give a very detailed and incisive response to it WITHIN TWO HOURS of it’s being first published! The debate that will follow that aspect of Ms Nyamko Sabuni’s proposed policy will surely be waged ( yes, like a war) through the agency of the Swedish media – and I do not intend to pre-empt or steal the thunder that is to come, but as my learned African Swedish brother was telling me last night – and I cannot absolutely vouch for it’s veracity, as a result of the potato famine which resulted in the emigration of some ONE MILLION SWEDES to the US from 1841 onwards through the mid 1850s, for many of the women, locked up in their chastity belts even after they arrived on those free shores, it did not take forced legislation or medical investigations to disabuse them ( or their husbands) of the idea ( of forced celibacy and control) and the all-American expression “DUMB SWEDE” ( unlike the milder/all American-positive expletive “ dumb blonde”) did arise out of the new immigrant’s grappling with the rudimentary exigencies of the new language that he/ she was struggling and slowly coming to understand – and Rehnquist became Chief Justice in the US that great immigrant country. ( The Swedes of course tell endless jokes and tales about the “ dumb= stupid Norwegian” When I just got here in 1971, I had thought that they were really talking about me and that “ dumb Norwegian” was a euphemism or the coded language for “Johnny just come, new & green immigrant. N.B. Sweden and Norway was once ONE COUNTRY. Until 1905!)
I’ll concede this: With all due respect for diversity, the idea and practical application of MULTICULTURALISM has been much disparaged and discredited in lengthy media and scholarly debates, discussions, dialogues and other exchanges – not least of all in a few postings that appeared in one of my favourite websites, ISRAPUNDIT:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=sv&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=israpundit+articles+on+Multiculturalism&spell=1
I must admit that the LANGUAGE factor – as a key, is a very positive feature of SABUNISM – but her wayward desire to examine the private parts of sisterhood and motherhood against anyone’s free will is a travesty of HUMAN RIGHTS – but wait and see! The debate has not even started yet.. Earlier this morning, - it’s a few minutes past nine and I’ve got a few more seconds in the school library and then we’ve gotta go – I’m taking care of some kids who are learning German, Spanish and French - I talked with a brother from Barbados and the subject was certain deviant right wingers like Mauricio Rojas who would not dare show his ugly mien here.

Herr Momodou and Babylon,
Many thanks for light shown.
My break is ALL over...... later......ali-g-tor
The days and breaks are getting shorter....
I’ll tell you this about Nyamko: She’s sharper than a Wilkinson razor (but not for mutilations) I have met her twice at the Parliament when we (members of African groups) brought our concerns to the attention of our African-born Parliamentarians during the last session, namely Hon. Joe Frans (my personal favourite) Magda Ayoub (from Egypt) and Nyamko Sabuni who is what we call very “sakkunnig” in Swedish, very practical very goal-oriented and even visionary about the ideal society she is on the way to re-creating with her "When in Rome do as the Romans" type of approach. However the ideological fortifications of what she wants to introduce, will not survive the battering that it is about to receive - not here and the implementation of that idea wouldn’t survive in the United States or Canada either. It would be easier to approcah that goal through the UN but not so locally. It would be possible to recommend such measures, but exceedingly difficult to get certain culturally entrenched groups to acquiesce to such violations of their own values and system - being IMPOSED on them and in time they will surely speak for themselves and make their various appeals to other international bodies.
I can give some really ridiculous examples.
It’s possible that the anti-Islam fascists would like to tie up this "female circumcision " inextricably with Islam and merely like to promote the kind of debate that would polarise our society and open it up to some wanton act of protest or even assassination – I wouldn’t put it past that - nor am I advocating some terror blackmail, but we’ll get to all that soon enough.
In the meantime all I would like to do is make an appointment with Torbjorn Tannsjö, professor of practical philosophy and successor to Harald Ofstad ( Moral Philosophy/ ethics) – an old dream of mine to meet this realist and author of some conventionally unpopular and other hypothetical scenarios and discuss this matter of the so called “female circumcision." with him.

Cornilius, just make a search in the Gambia-l archives at http://listserv.icors.org/archives/gambia-l.html you will find that this subject ("female circumcision") has been extensively discussed there over the years. Use the search function of bantaba and you will also see the topics where it was discussed.
Thanks for sharing your views about Nyamko. I find it very interesting because I have not heard about her before. |

Well... I don´t think the swedish language is really the key to the job market, it should not matter wether you have a perfect swedish accent or not. But you have to be able to understand the language and spell correct. I think the main problem here is that there is a lot of undercovered racism or ignorance, I mean we live in a country were people don´t understand why they can´t call black people negroes? There is always some debate in ANY swedish forum on the net about the big issue why it is so bad to call people "what they are". Negro means black in spanish etc... Why can´t they have their "Negerboll" and "nogger black icecream" without being called racists? Just go to any swedish discussion forum and search on the word "neger" and you´ll see the typical swedish mentality. The main problem we have here are that the employers dont even look at your job application if you dont have a swedish name. I have seen it myself in my previous working places. To blame it on language problems is just BS. We are a nothing but an embarrassing developing country when it comes to integration.
I´m always happy to see people like Nyamko Sabuni, that is a big step on the way to integration and make the swedes less prejudice about our new swedes and what they can do. I bet many Svenssons are shocked to see that there are intelligent africans who dont only sing and dance!
(Chokladboll From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Chokladboll (chocolate ball) is a popular pastry in Sweden.
The chocolate ball is usually slightly larger than a meatball. Because of its simple recipe, it can be quickly made by anyone, and is popular on children's party or as home-made candy. The recipe consists of oatmeal, sugar, coffee, cocoa, butter, and sometimes a pinch of vanilla sugar, which is mixed into a compact mass and then rolled on pearl sugar, shredded coconut or sprinkles. It can be eaten straight away, but is usually first placed in the fridge for about an hour or in the freezer for those who prefer the even harder variety.
Name The traditional name for the pastry is negerboll ("negro ball"), but due to its arguably offensive character, the name has fallen out of favor. The most common alternative is "chokladboll", although it can be considered misleading because the pastry doesn't contain any chocolate. Some people choose to call it "kokosboll" ("coco ball") which is even more misleading since that is already the name of a completely different, gelatine-based pastry. A popular producer of the pastry, Delicato, have chosen to call it "Delicatoboll".
In 2003, bakery owner Agneta Andersson from Sjöbo, was reported to the Swedish ombudsman against Ethnic Discrimination for using the word "negerbollar" on a sign in her bakery shop. However, the case was dismissed, since the woman reporting it did not consider herself personally insulted.)

'Some men', especially some wannabe Jews, seem to realize that not too many people are interested in their confuse writings and their cataracts of links (are they payed for it?), not even if they pretend to be interested in Islam. Editing the same old postings again and again to make the name appear in the list also fails.
Indeed a somewhat desperate situation. So why not trying the old methods again to get some attention?
I am not so hardhearted to refuse it, but don't beg again. |

i would assume that honour crimes would be illegal in any civilised state/nation. FGM since she is dealing with immigrants is important as any realted health cost would be picked up by the system be it medical or social services. dealing with headscarves is a major challenge for any country/Europe to keep secularism. i dont think the two can go together.
i read recently a teacher was sacked in the UK for wearing ''Taliban-imposed-liked '' clothes
back home it almost cause riots during the St Therese's School episode. |

No Sir, I am of sound mind. I am not mentally confused or unbalanced nor is my wife. I like Goethe and I am discussing under the topic my country, Sweden! I have never felt as not integrated. I must also add that I don't know what Serenata is raving and ranting about. Me beg her? For what? Money? Mercy? Citizenship? Respect? Love? As I have made clear, my paternal ancestry is partly German and English - my father Theodore Hamelberg, was married to my mother Evelyn Hamelberg. My grandfather Louis Hamelberg was married to my grandmother Maud Hamelberg and these are public, not secret facts. My wife's sister ILSE is German - from Berlin, married a potato millionaire Birger Mattson and came to Sweden as a nineteen- year old. She tells me that she didn't know about the Holocaust, she has a son, Pelle who used to be road manager for the music group ABBA. Big deal. I was last in Germany in Cologne in 1989 and I used to borrow classical music from the German Embassy in Stockholm and the East German cultural centre which was located nearly opposite our apartment in central Stockholm.
I have first cousins who live in Germany.
Among my acquaintances and friends (from all over the globe) in Sweden number a few Germans, Bosnians, Armenians, Turks, French, Italians (my wife's second best language) lots of Americans, of course Brits - I met June yesterday and hope to meet her again, even Australians, North Africans, I know 500 Iranians, and they know me, Belgians from Antwerp to Brussels, Jews from all over the planet ( including Germany I sat next to one this past Pesach which was presided over by the Chief Rabbi and I cannot want to be what I am.
Now Serenata may think that she is the German Queen of Bantaba and ruler of the flock or that she is a powerful and important or even beautiful German woman or industrialist like my special friend SYBIL or have some illusionary visions about me.
It is English that is my mother tongue, not German, and my English is not worse than anyone's German.
As for journalists, I know a few good ones.
I can substitute Kraut, for German.
I do not pretend to be interested in Islam or Muslims. I edit some of my postings to save space: I edit and add to an old posting rather than start a new thread or send a new posting if it is the same theme, so I cannot understand what is meant by ”editing the same postings again and again to make the name appear;" Which name? Do I break any rules by editing my own postings? Does it offend Serenata the Wannabe Germ-man? Think again, I too have friends in Berlin..... By the way, I once met Peter Weiss and was pleased to read about that meeting in his published notebook. I am that Cornelius, from Sierra Leone.......didn't know that I had such long legs till then.
I assure you that I am not desperate. If I want to I can join any Nigerian or Ghanaian Forum, today.
You may also review my first novel when it is published.
If you want any more personal information that only I can provide, don't hesitate to ask. |

Circumcision is not only of the bolong , but also of the heart. The current topic about which subject I am certainly an expert has everything with what you quoted. My whole posting is about the subject of integration not about the 45 million German women in Germany or any of them.
INTEGRATION has a lot to do with something called RACISM
Racists of course will always say ”I have so many black friends", just as some evil anti-Semites may coo " I have a million Jewish friends. If you like, I can substitute Swedish for German:
Yes, I know. "Some men" as that German woman would say, "just because you say hello, they start getting toobeig for their boots. The cheeck. They start getting out of their boots. They can kiss my entire WHITE ass." A lot of racism revolves around sex actually and what is in inverted commas is what I heard from a German woman - a black one.
But Swedes are not racists and do not have a reputation of being or having been racists or colonialists. Unlike the Germans who had colonies in TOGO, Cameroon and Namibia....and exterminated SIX MILLION JEWS. The whole of that posting addressed the issue of INTEGRATION IN SWEDEN.
Read it again. It's intelligible and if not then it’s only those who do not understand that are confused.
THis part is to Babylon:
It's been said and I've bin told, the streets of heaven are lined with gold and the only integration we is gonna ever have will be in the equaliser, the cemetery? ( Maybe after the heart attack?) (Not before?)
This is what a German woman said:
Yes, I know. "Some men" as that German woman would say, "just becuase you say hello, they start getting toobeig for their boots. The cheeck. They start getting out of their boots. They can kiss my entire black ass."
and I don't suppose that Serenata's ass is entirely black.
The rest is addressed to Nyamko Sabuni and the policy makers:
everybody getting interred, after the final ban,,,,,,,,,
emancipate yourself from mental slavery
terminate the appointed agenda
circumcised and integrated Swedish heart to the foreigner completed
everyday creating the climate of self-respect and tolerance, please tolerance for the other..........it's a moral, a modern dilemma
and this was just to show how difficult life can be... it is from Bob Dylan's lastest called MODERN TIMES. The moral problem as I said is a modern problem not one that was born in 1805.

Cornelius didn't get the meaning of my posting, but this is ok.
I did nothing to the man. When he showed up here in the Bantaba I was one of the very few who reacted to his sometimes highly aggressive political postings without anger.
I think he always needs someone - sometimes it's me, sometimes Alhassan - to project his phantasies and frustrations on. They seem to run wild in his head. Sorry, but this is all a little bit sick. |
