I think that the UDP has put the most effort into "opposition talks" but has not been flexible enough to make a coalition,all parties who have taken part in these talks have not wanted to weaken any perceived power base that they think they might have.There has been no common objectives that all could agree on.

The UDP was opposed to the idea of formulating a coalition that is based entirely on Halifa Sallah's proposal. They believe it should be part of his and part of theirs-give and take-. That is why they conceded and accomodated Halifa's 5yr transition proposal and its attendant conditions but this was not reciprocated by Halifa and PDOIS.
