Samba Faal, Secretary of State for Youth, Sports and Religious Affairs, was yesterday relieved of his cabinet appointment, according to a press release from the Office of the President.
Sheikh Omar Faye, Director of Press and Public Relations (DPPR) at State House, was accordingly appointed as the Secretary of State for Youth, Sports and Religious Affairs.

According to a press release from State House, Samba Faal’s removal was in exercise of the provisions of Section 71(4)(b) of the Constitution by President Yahya Jammeh, while Mr Sheikh Omar Faye’s appointment falls within the ambit of Section 71(1) and 71(3) of the Constitution. Mr Faye’s appointment came about five months after his appointment as the DPPR at the State House.
In a similar development, Bora Mboge, Director- General of the GRTS has also been removed from his position yesterday according to sources.

Alhaji Modou Sanyang, Deputy Director-General of GRTS, has now been appointed as Director-General with immediate effect
What is the Section 71(10 and 71(3) of the constitution. what are they meant to have done!!

This is a normal occurence and is hardly taken seriously. The average term of a Cabinet Minister is six motnths. Beyond that, everything is a bonus.

Jambo you’re a joker – Pensions! I know someone in Serrekunda who has been three years on countdown for their pension – when I saw them few weeks back it was back to welding! Got to wait another three years for some obscure reason. I suspect it is another way around the story below;

Better than news from Niger – the government of Niger has announced plans to raise the age of retirement to 60 to stem the loss of experienced workers.
Six years ago the retirement age was raised to 55!
The people of Niger have a life expectancy of just 44years
Re the government shuffle – I always refer to them as the ‘Ali shuffle’ because it’s always a quick turnaround. (Muhammad Ali shuffle) I had a look on Google and found last July Section 71 (3) was favourite once again and this bantaba had a posting of – Jammeh’s latest E-broom torches IEC.

The world would be a poorer place if it was peopled by children whose parents risked nothing in the cause of social justice, for fear of personal loss. (Joe Slovo - African revolutionary)
