They are failed not because of catching up. They failed because it is not easy for Africans to be successful as they have too much to overcome. Blaming African failure for ‘catching up’ is just too simplistic.
Yes, the idea of catching up implies been left behind. That is true. Africa is left behind. If one doctor has to take care of more patients, if turk can’t find a xray machine in Gambia and has to go to Dakar for the immigration process. Yes, Gambian is left behind.
I don’t know what is very significant with the ‘catching up’. Can you explain why this ‘catching up’ terminology is very important?
First of all, I always advocated long term development for Gambia. I am not sure if you read my posts but that is my strongest points. So we have agreement on that. I also have agreement with that Africa and west have totally different social, economic, historical and cultural realities and solutions must be different and it will be long term progress.
My reference of ‘catching up’ means that Gambia to catch up the universal standards for needs for human beings. For example, if Gambia has 40 students for a teacher and Sweden has 20 students for a teacher. In terms of the universal standard for the quality of education where less students for a teacher is better. So Gambia needs to ‘catch up’ the Sweden for number meaning that the number of students 40 per a teacher should be reduced to lower number. If that number is 20 per a teacher, that means Gambia accomplish one standard in terms of the quality of education.
I don’t know what you are opposing. Like I said, it is little bid difficult to understand you, janko.

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.

The world of haves and have nots is realistic. Rich people of poor countries command the financial and material muscle to wine and dine on the highest table of choice. Poor and deprived people of very rich nations stay yearning for good life they never come to live. Bottom line material truth is that some people are greedy enough and choose everything for the self. That is worst in situations where the distributor of public goods is also a competing hand in the game of amassing private possession. It remains to be as it is that division bewteen haves and have nots hinges on the balance of UNEVEN DISTRIBUTION.

Talk about human greed and and keep it tight. It is typically one lame hold on the issue of trumpeting about Africa or Gambia being 300 years behind rest of the world. Where does that leave the rich of Gambia and the poor deprived people of developed nations?
