Its my choice
To serve as cleaner
Thus stay with my voice
To use as I chose
In this place called babylon
Where I prefer being a dog
To being a prince in home of birth
There the king holds all to ransom
Here I can without fear
Talk the talk
Walk the walk
As a free being
Under the law

You are obviously happy with the choice you have made and consider it worthwhile to write a poem

In other words you are : FREE

Yes my friend as free as I can be, but I read a critique by the mad king saying some of us in the diaspora are working as dish washers etc rather than stay home to develop the nation and hide here to criticise him or his government, all bla bla as far as am concerned. Freedom is very nice and highly essential for my well-being which I wish for all my brethren back home.

Thanks,VERY VERY few of us can be brain surgeons or other such gifted people,as long as one is content and free and never fear a knock on the door at night, unless you are a wrongdoer of course )

This is a very nice poem, though short but its message well thought out. I am just getting to read the poem, and it happens that I had access to the article under link above (Courtesy of DO). To me, the poem is a direct reply to the piece above. I,too, am much more happier with my family and friends than living in a country where my voice is taken.

Thanks kaaniba!

I knew a man from Saabaa Badibou called Shiekh Abou, he said to me that people take freedom for granted as in not valuable as it is a given chance to be free at a particular time only to be given a rude awakening when they find themselves locked up in cells or jail at which time they admire even the chicken running free outdoors. Hey man I value that freedom and so just upped and departed that heaven which for me is a fools paradise. Utopian to the core only pretenders sit there cooing daily about he good cool life there or down under whilst choking to death or point thereof as it were. Freedom is sweet and I shall not exchange that for anything ever! Thanks Dalton and T1020 Toubab the pure breed I love you all to bits.

"The mad king", nothing short of that. To aim at denying people of their freedom is the beginning of deep rooted senselessness. Thank you once more brother Kaanibaa.
