Kobo, UDP wants a coalition to tackkle Jammeh as Ousainou rightly said it. Now what does PDOIS want or what is their possition on a coalition? You keep mentioning NADD my friend UDP made it clear and I want to write it down for you for the last time in bold letters so that you know. Ousainou Darboe is one person in UDP and he has to listen to us than go on his own because nhe our leader. Therefore this is UDP'S possition on NADD!
UDP WILL NEVER JOIN NADD AGAIN AND WE ARE NOT INTERESTED WITH ANYTHING NADD PERIOD.WE WOULD WELCOME A FRESH COALITION BUT NOT NADD. Hope that is clear to you and if that would make you vote Jammeh and leave your party PDOIS, then you don't love your party.
IF OPPOSITION PARTIES ARE INTERESTED IN AN ALLIANCE, LET THEM COME FORWARD AND CONTACT US THEN WE CAN SET UP A FRESH COALITION THAT HAS PRINCIPLES FAIR TO ALL. NADD is a none issue as far as UDP is concerned AND IF PDOIS TOO WOULD NOT AGREE ON ANY OTHER COALITION OTHER THAN NADD, THEN AM AFRAID WE NEVER GOING TO COALIATE WITH PDOIS.OK! Thank you. |

JANAFARA Please express your own personal statements and declarations and don't over-step your bounds WHAT IS YOUR MANDATE TO MAKE SUCH STATEMENTS IN RED FOR UDP OR ITS LEADER
HOWEVER I WOULD PROVE TO YOU THAT P.D.O.I.S WORK HARDER THAN ANY OPPOSITION PARTY TO SENSITISED THE CITIZENS; TENDER A CLEAR-CUT AGENDA 2011; INCLUDING PROPOSALS FOR COALITION BUILDING, FORMING TACTICAL ALLIANCE OR UNITED FRONT AGAINST JAMMEH/A.P.R.C
NOTE: WHY UDP DIDN'T RESPOND (FORMALLY BY CORRESPONDENCE) TO LETTER SENT TO THEM BY P.D.O.I.S "PDOIS wrote to UDP before its Congress to indicate to them that the party was waiting for the resolution of the UDP Congress on inter party unity in order to know what form of Alliance could be forged for 2011."
ON ABOVE; REFER PDOIS Press Release after the UDP Congress under http://www.gambia.dk/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9341
BEFORE WE EVEN REVIEW N.A.D.D; FOR 2011 WE ARE YET TO SEE UDP SEEKING TO PERSUADE AN ALTERNATIVE STRATEGY MORE VIABLE, SOUND AND TACTICALLY EFFECTIVE THAN N.A.D.D OR EVEN P.D.O.I.S AGENDA 2011; UNDER A UNITED FRONT

FOOD FOR THOUGHTS FROM THE POINT EDITORIAL Let’s preach peace UNDER http://thepoint.gm/africa/gambia/article/lets-preach-peace
"Let’s preach peace
Africa » Gambia Wednesday, April 13, 2011
The year 2011 promises to be an even more eventful year, with the looming Presidential Elections, which is no doubt going to be another litmus test for Gambian democracy.
Come 24th November this year, Gambians will be going to the polls once again, to exercise their constitutional right to vote and elect a leader to steer the affairs of this country for another five years. While we are still about seven months away from the election, it appears that the various political players have begun the campaign in earnest.
Political party leaders have also started making their intentions known ahead of the polls, with most of them speaking on their preparations and plans, while others tour the country. In line with this, we renew our call for the maintenance of peace throughout the length and breadth of the country.
We are calling on all political party leaders and their supporters to preach peace throughout the campaign process.
Peace, as we all know, is the foundation that forms the building block of any development. This, therefore, makes it a necessity in life.
In any competition, there must be winners and losers and, in view of this, we call on all Gambians to cast aside their differences and come together to develop this beautiful country of ours.
Looking at the structure of the Gambian society, typified by intermarriages and cohabitation, there can be no room for hatred.
Our political party leaders must understand that The Gambia is bigger than their own political party interests and, no matter how important their party agenda are, they should bear in mind that the interest of this country and its people is above their self-interests.
In fact, their agenda become valid and important only if they observe the maintenance of peace as one of their top priorities in nation-building. A problem that is not solved through dialogue can never be solved through other means.
We want to see an election free from violence and trouble as we are all Gambians and will remain Gambians, because it is The Gambia that we have.
After all, politics is geared towards nation-building, which of course will never be possible without the cherished peace prevailing.
We must always remember that our only differences are our political ideologies and principles, but the goals are all the same – national development to give Gambians a good standard of living.
“There is no way to peace, peace is the way.”
A. J. Muste"

RELATED BANTABA GAMBIAN POLITICS TOPIC Hamat Bah says kingship issue a non-starter UNDER http://www.gambia.dk/forums/topic.asp?whichpage=1&TOPIC_ID=10733#67122
""I have no doubt that Jammeh will contest as a candidate. I am also going to be a candidate, and I believe Ousaniou Darboe will also be a candidate, but the rest, I don't know," he said, adding that had it been the kingship issue was a reality, the first sign would have been that the elections would be frustrated."
Quizzed as to whether he still stands by his word that he will contest the forthcoming presidential election, Bah said: "I stand by my word 110%. I want to be a candidate in the election, and contest under the NRP ticket. I am committed to that; I will contest. What I can finally say is that I will be a candidate in the 2011 election. We are working on the elections."

Kobo I am now very convinced that you don't know the UDP. We are a democratic Gambia loving party.Putting the Gambia firstis our major priority. As to your assertion that PDOIS did contact UDP before putting forward agenda 2011.I think you should ask Halifa to tell you who contacted who!
But all that is childish what is at stake is the Gambia which we both cherish I belief.
Lets meet and talk about a coalition fresh not NADD
I repeat UDP will never join NADD even if Ousainou is to lead it.If you don't belief me ask Ousainou to lead NADD.
We left on principles and unless those principles are resoulved we are not interested.I can assure you that the party is more than any individual including Ousainou. So we have set up UDP in a way that it has to survive even after Ousainou's presidency not like the NCP, UP or other parties that fell with their leader gone.
NADD IS A NONE ISSUE AS FAR AS UDP IS CONCERNED.
You ask me not to speak for UDP well I am because that is our possition.
So don't bother with the NADD issue.UDP doesn't discuss NADD anymore. We are focussing on what next for the Gambia not what before. |
