Both Momodou Sabally and Momodou F. K. Kolley have been sacked.
  Sabally was minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology for a few days prior to which he was the minister of Presidential Affairs, Secretary General and Head of Civil Service.
Momodou Kolley was minister of Lands and Regional Governments.
 Momodou Aki Bayo is now re-appointed minister of Lands and Regional Governments. Momodou Aki Bayo was removed from the same ministry in August 2013.

Sheriff Bojang no longer minister

Mr Sheriff Bojang, no longer holds the position of the Minister of Information and Communication. He has been replaced by Mr Seedy S.K. Njie on Monday, 9 January, 2017.
Mr. Njie was appointed three days ago as the Press officer and Spokesperson of the APRC party. He is currently a nominated member of the National Assembly.
According to the GRTS 8 pm news, Sherrif Bojang, has absconded and is relieved of his duties by President Jammeh.
But Mr Bojang¡¦s narration of events is different. In the following statement released to the media as he stated that he resigned:
Statement by the Former Minister of Information & Communication, Sheriff Bojang on the Political Impasse in The Gambia
I begin in the name of Allah the Most High, the Most Clement and the Giver of Wisdom. I begin this statement by hereby announcing that I have taken the decision, and written to the relevant high authority to the effect that I have resigned from the Government and the Cabinet as Minister of Information & Communication Infrastructure with immediate effect.
I hereby wish to thank His Excellency, President Yahya AJJ Jammeh for according me the onerous opportunity to serve my country in the high office of Minister of State for exactly the past two years this month. On 1st December 2016, the people of The Gambia went to the polls to elect a new head of state. After the final tally of votes Mr Adama Barrow of the Coalition was duly announced winner and declared president-elect. President Jammeh conceded defeat and pledged to work with Mr Barrow on a transition. However on 5th December 2016, the electoral commission issued a statement clarifying that when the total votes per region were being tallied, certain figures were ¡§inadvertently transposed¡¨. The error was corrected and did not change the status quo. On 9th December 2016, President Jammeh announced his rejection of the results.
Subsequently, petitions were filed at the Supreme Court, which among other things call for a declaration of the nullification of the results, a rerun of the polls. It is my considered opinion and stance that the results of the December 1st election represent a true reflection of the sovereign will of the Gambian people. The current attempts while appearing to have a veneer of constitutionalism are in fact an attempt to subvert the express will of the Gambian electorate. The people have spoken and they could not have spoken louder and clearer. They want change. A disaggregation of results shows that apart from the Fonis, the APRC and President Jammeh secured a 50+ per cent majority in only 3 out of 53 constituencies. The APRC has no one to blame but itself for its dismal performance at the polls.
We took very impolitic decisions from mid-2015 which led to a haemorrhaging of support from our traditional bases and made the party unappealing to new millennial voters. The Gambia has decided and we must accept and respect this decision. This is the time for clear thinking and not burying of heads in the sand.
To remain relevant, the APRC must take the hard decisions and make the necessary systemic and structural changes within the party. The first of these hard decisions should be the dropping of petitions at the apex court, re-engaging President-elect Barrow and his Coalition team and expediting the transition arrangement. I hereby appeal to my colleagues in cabinet, among them some of the finest ladies and gentlemen of the first order, and of course including His Excellency President Jammeh, to look into their conscience and take the right decision within the most reasonable time for the present and future of our vulnerable little Gambia. It is never too late to do the right thing.
I want to apologise to my colleagues in Cabinet that since the President¡¦s December 9th announcement, my refusal to attend all cabinet meetings despite some of their entreaties was not meant as an affront or rebuff to anyone but a symbolic gesture of my opposition to what is taking place.
Finally, I have been heartened by comments ¡V with the exception of one (an interview granted to The Guardian of London by a senior member of the Coalition) ¡V from President-elect Barrow, Halifa Sallah, Ousainou Darboe and others on their vision of the post-Jammeh Gambia. I hereby acknowledge Mr Adama Barrow as the President-elect of The Gambia stemming from the wishes of Gambians and the will of the Almighty Allah. I also call on President Jammeh to respect the wishes of Gambians and the will of the Almighty Allah he so much expressly believes in, and start the transition and hand over power within the stipulated 60 days from the elections. In taking this decision and making this statement I have not sought the undue advice or help of anyone within or outside The Gambia and I am not seeking the validation or otherwise of any person or group.

Jammeh appoints new SG, removes Sports minister

 President Yahya Jammeh has appointed Mr Mousa Jallow as Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
He replaced Sulayman Samba, who was removed last Thursday.
President Jammeh has decided to relieve Alieu K. Jammeh, minister for Youth and Sports, of his Cabinet appointment with effect from 10 January 2017. Gabriel Gomez was appointed as minister responsible for Youth and Sports with immediate effect.

SG Sulayman Samba relieved

 According to official sources, Sulayman Samba Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service, has been relieved of his duties by the President.
No official reason was given for relieving him of his appointment.
Mr Samba was first appointed to the post in November 2015 and removed on 30 June 2016; he was reinstated on 18 August 2016.
Meanwhile, Hon. Seedy SK Njie has been appointed as spokesman and press secretary of the APRC party with effect from 5 January 2017.

Bala Garba Jahumpa back in charge of National Assembly Matters

President Yahya Jammeh has rescinded the recent assignment of the portfolio of National Assembly Matters to Hon. Fatou Lamin Faye, a news release from the Office of the President stated yesterday.
Bala Garba Jahumpa, who was appointed Minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure on 28 September 2016, is now assigned the portfolio of National Assembly Matters, a portfolio he earlier held until August this year.
Hon. Fatou Lamin Faye, who is the current Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, was assigned the portfolio of National Assembly Matters on 26 September 2016.

Bala Garba Jahumpa bounces back as Transport Minister

 President Yahya Jammeh has appointed Bala Garba Jahumpa as Minister for Transport, Works and Infrastructure with immediate effect, a post he held up to August when he was appointed Gambia’s Ambassador to India.
Jahumpa has served in various ministries in Jammeh’s government. He is also the Secretary General of the ruling APRC party.
Dodou Bammy Jagne, who was occupying the post since 18 August 2016, has been relieved of his appointment.
Jagne first entered the Cabinet on 30 June 2016 as SG and head of the Civil Service and Minister of Presidential Affairs, until 18 August.
Sulayman Samba, Minister for Presidential Affairs, has been relieved of that post, but he is still Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service.

Ousman Sonko removed from Interior, Replaced by Momodou Alieu Bah

 An announcement on GRTS television on Saturday, 17 September 2016 – a non-working day, revealed that Mr. Ousman Sonko, Ousman Sonkoone of the longest serving cabinet ministers in the APRC government has been relieved from his post as Minister of the Interior and replaced by Momodou Alieu Bah, who up to the time of his appointment was the Director of Finance of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) at Defence Headquarters.
Mr. Sonko was first appointed as minister of interior in November 2006 replacing Baboucarr Jatta, a former army commander.
He was removed and then reinstated to replace Lamin Kaba Bajo on 3 February 2012 for barely a week only to be redeployed as ambassador to Spain replacing Kebba Touray on 9 February 2012.
He was again reappointed on 7 May 2012 to the same interior portfolio where he was serving until his removal on Saturday.
Mr. Sonko was enlisted in 1988 and promoted to second lieutenant in 1991 from where he rose to different ranks and positions, including the Commanding Officer – State Guard Battalion as a major, being made the Inspector General of police. It was from here that he was appointed as a cabinet minister.
Mr. Bah, the newly appointed interior minister, was a serving member of the armed forces and was one time convicted and sentenced to serve 25 years in prison for involvement in 21 March 2006 foiled coup attempt. He was released on a presidential pardon in 2009 and reinstated in the armed forces. |

Colonel Bah is new Minister of the Interior

 President Yahya Jammeh has decided to relieve Ousman Sonko of his appointment as Minister of the Interior, with effect 16 September 2016.
In the same vein, Colonel Mamadou Alieu Bah has replaced Mr Sonko, official sources said.
Ousman Sonko was the longest serving minister of the Interior in the Second Republic (ten-year service). He first joined the Cabinet in 2006, and was removed in April 2012 and appointed Gambia’s ambassador to Spain.
On May 7, 2012 he bounced back as minister of the Interior and held the post until 16 September 2016, when he was relieved of his appointment.
Mamadou Alieu Bah was a mathematics teacher in Bwiam Secondary School in 1992-1993.
From 1993 to 1995, he worked for the defunct Continent Bank.
He joined the Gambia Armed Forces in 1996, and had military training in Turkey and Taiwan.
Up to his appointment on Friday 16 September 2016, he was the director of Finance of the Gambia National Army.

SARJO JALLOW DISMISSED, DISAPPEARS

 The newly appointed ‘Deputy Minister’ of Foreign Affairs, Mr Sarjo Jallow, was dismissed on 1 September 2016. He then disappeared from his residence at Kerr Serigne on 2 September 2016.
According to an official announcement, broadcast on the state owned GRTS, the 60 year old was appointed ‘Deputy Minister’ of Foreign Affairs with effect from 23 August 2016. But barely before being sworn in or assuming office, he suddenly and mysteriously disappeared from his residence.
According to his wife, Jainaba Bah, he arrived in The Gambia on Tuesday 30 2016 to assume office and was residing in a property in Kerr Serigne purportedly owned by a senior government minister. But on Wednesday, the house was burgled and some items were missing. The door was repaired and on Thursday 1 September 2016, he proceeded to Soma to attend a funeral. Upon his return, he found that the house was burgled for the second time and this time the wife’s lap top and some documents were among the missing items.
Jainaba Bah added that on Friday, 2 September 2016, her husband, Sarjo Jallow, decided to get the door of the house repaired. She said that she spoke to him on the phone at about 8.54 am and expressed her concerns about the latest development. This was the last time she heard from him. She noted that Mr Ousman Manjang, a colleague of Mr Jallow, spoke to him on the phone at about 10 am. Mr Manjang has expressed grave concern through the media about the disappearance of his colleague.
Mr Jallow worked first as Secretary to the Scholarship Board, then as Minister of Information and Communication, then as Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture and as Gambian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the African Union.

Bammy Jagne Re-deployed, As Sulayman Samba bounces back

It was announced in the 10 pm news of GRTS television on Thursday, 18 August, 2016 that Mr. Dodou Bammy Jagne has been Sulayman Sambarelieved of his position as Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service and Minister of Presidential Affairs and redeployed to the portfolio of Minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure, with effect from Thursday, 18 August 2016
In a similar vein, Mr. Sulayman Samba, the former Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service and Minister of Presidential Affairs, who was removed from this post on 30 June 2016 (less than two months ago) has bounced back again to the same position.

Abdou Kolley bounces back as Finance Minister, Kebba Touray redeployed as ambassador

 President Yahya Jammeh has re-appointed Abdou Kolley to serve as Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, and deployed Kebba S. Touray, who was finance minister, to the foreign service as an ambassador, with effect from 16 March 2015, according to a press release aired yesterday by state TV.
Mr Touray was moved from the Trade Ministry to the Finance Ministry in July 2013, where he was until this latest redeployment.

Mama Fatima Singhateh is back as new Attorney General and Minister of Justice.
New Minister of Justice appointed

President Yahya Jammeh has appointed Mama Fatima Singhateh as Attorney General and Minister of Justice to replace Basiru Mahoney, who was removed from the cabinet last Thursday.
Mrs Singhateh, whose appointment took effect from 12 January 2015, was previously Attorney General and Minister of Justice.
She was removed from the cabinet in August 2014.

WHO COULD BE ATTORNEY GENERAL? CERTAINLY NOT ONE WHO HAS NOT BEEN CALLED TO THE BAR

The executive should seek legal advice before making appointments. The country is now without an Attorney General and Minister of Justice. MrBasiru Mahoney was removed on Thursday, 8 January 2015 but nosubstantive appointment was made. The public is informed that the
Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology is to oversee the Ministry of Justice. That begs the question: Who is the Attorney General of the Republic?
Section 71(2) states among other things that:
“……a person shall not be qualified to be appointed Attorney General unless he or she is a legal practitioner of at least five years standing at the Gambian bar.”
Hence no one could serve as Attorney General who is not a legal practitioner of at least five years standing at the Gambian bar.
Furthermore, the Constitution is quite clear on the role of the Attorney General.
SECTION 72(2) states that
“The Attorney General shall be the principal legal adviser to the Government and shall have the right of audience in all courts in The Gambia.”
