The National Consultative Committee examined the AFPRC’s proposed programme and timetable for a return to civilian rule after the 1994 military coup. Chaired by Dr Lenrie Peters, it consulted people around The Gambia and development partners.

The central recommendation

The report recommended a two-year transition beginning on 22 July 1994, rather than the four-year period originally proposed by the military administration.
