Equality campaigner Baroness Cox said the Law Society document 'violates everything we stand for'

Sharia Law to be enshrined in British legal system as lawyers get guidelines on drawing up documents according to Islamic rules

Top lawyers have written guidelines for British solicitors on drafting 'sharia-compliant' wills which can deny women an equal share of their inheritance and entirely exclude non-believers, it was revealed today.

The Law Society, which represents solicitors in England and Wales, has written a guide on Sharia succession rules that will be used in British courts. It will mean that children born outside of marriage and adopted children could also be denied their fair share.

The guide states: 'No distinction is made between children of different marriages, but illegitimate and adopted children are not Sharia heirs....

The important thing here Kobo are the words:

"Top lawyers have written guidelines for British solicitors"

These Legal eagles will write guidelines for any organisation that has the money to pay their exorbitant FEES,The Daily Mail is running this as a big story just to sell more papers, you should start to be worried when the politicians get involved, you can then express your thoughts to your "elected representative" who ,expresses the views of the voters in his constituency,of course all politicians do that, don't they ?

Toubab 1020 You are right as media control mongols play kingmaker when election campaign looms we have these stories to fire up the immigration battle ground. London Evening Standard News with this commentary:

Sam Leith: Don’t fall for the latest sharia law scare story

Islamic law is to be effectively enshrined in the British legal system for the first time under guidelines for solicitors on drawing up ‘sharia-compliant’ wills,” it was reported yesterday. “High street solicitors will be able to write Islamic wills that deny women an equal share of inheritance and exclude unbelievers altogether.” What’s more, these documents “would be recognised by British courts”.

This story is wicked mischief. It’s designed to cause Ukip voters to turn purple and feminists to spawn hashtags by playing into the idea — scary to reactionaries and liberals alike — that it’s only a matter of time before sharia law is incorporated into the British legal system, all schoolteachers will wear niqabs, blasphemers will be stoned and blah blah blah.

And it is total, steaming horse eggs from top to bottom. First clue, for intrepid little Sherlocks, comes from the fact that the story is about guidance issued by the Law Society.

It may have “law” in its name, but the Law Society has no more power to change the law than the Stanley Gibbons stamp-collecting club has to determine the price of postage. It’s the solicitors’ union, essentially. Changing the law is something Parliament does. Hence: “legislature”.

Second clue: British law would not need to be changed — not one bit — to make it compatible with sharia law when it comes to the making of wills.

The technical term for a sharia-compliant will in the UK is “a will”. We have the principle.....
