1. The need to solve the Casamance crisis
Foroyaa Editorial: Published on Wednesday, 29 January 2014
Cases of Gambians crossing the border into Casamance and then being held there for sometime by armed combatants is not a rare occurrence. Those who venture to get firewood, charcoal and other products from Casamance have sometimes experienced confrontation with rebels and do claim to pay ransom before being released.
Fights between rebels had also affected Gambian villages near the border and armed clashes had been discovered in the Gambia which are created by defeated rebels who cross the border in search of refuge.
Foroyaa is working on a special edition on the Casamance crisis and its impact on The Gambia. Anyone who wishes to volunteer information should contact the Foroyaa office for audience.
