Politics or the art of government is one of the most important and cherished features of civilization. The invention of government has enabled people to harmonize society and forge a collective agenda for the common good.
This is at least what all governments claim to stand for. It is this innate human desire to find strength in numbers and build security in togetherness that gave rise to nation states run by governments. The politics of these governments go a long way towards fostering peace at home and peace with their neighbours. However, it is fascinating to realize that in this age of technological wizardry, massive wealth, unrivalled scientific knowledge and better awareness about justice and equality, the world is increasingly becoming unequal and intolerant. Poverty, hatred, injustice, disease, corruption and arrogance are as prevalent as before, if not worse.
The sorry state of the world today is a direct result of what I call the ‘politics of denial’ and the failure to look beyond this kind of politics. Denial in the sense that the world’s political players, both state and non-state actors, by their actions and words continue to deny the simple truth that all human beings, never mind their religion, race or geographical location share the same aspirations in life; the desire to be delivered from deprivation and despair.
The politics of today pays little service to the collective human good. One can argue with confidence that every nation is bent on prospering at the expense of others, deliberately ignoring the obvious fact that the solution is looking beyond the divide. That is looking beyond politics. Dividing the world into ‘democracies’ and ‘non-democracies’, ‘backward’ and ‘advanced’ societies is a grave misrepresentation and a failure to recognize our common denominator- humanity....

Ghanaian Anglican Bishop slams Desmond Tutu over gay comment
The Anglican Archbishop of the Ashanti Region, Archbishop Yinkah Sarfo has strongly condemned retired Archbishop Desmond Tutu over his comments that he preferred hell to an ‘anti-gay’ heaven.
"Archbishop Tutu is respected in the Anglican Church and around the world but this time he has misfired and all Anglican Bishops from Africa, Asia and South America condemn his statement in no uncertain terms," he told Adom News.
The retired South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu joined the ranks of gay rights supporters when he spoke at a United Nations’ Gay Rights Campaign function in Cape Town, South Africa last week.
Archbishop Tutu stated that he would not worship a God who is homophobic, adding that “I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven… I mean, I would much rather go to the other place [hell].” Tutu said.
Tutu likened gay rights to the civil rights battle for blacks and apartheid, saying: “I am as passionate about this campaign as I ever was about apartheid, for me, it is at the same level.”
Meanwhile, Pope Francis also said this week that he would not “judge” gay priests that are sexually inactive, if he happened to learn about their sexual orientation.
Pope Francis was speaking to reporters on a flight back from Brazil, he said: "If a person is gay and seeks God and has good will who am I to judge him?" .....

1. Homosexuality in Islam
Islam is clear in its prohibition of homosexual acts. Islamic scholars cite these reasons for condemning homosexuality, based on teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah:
- It clashes with the "natural" order in which God created human beings
- It brings destruction of the family and the institutions of marriage
- It leads people to ignore God's guidance in other areas of life
In Islamic terminology, homosexuality is alternatively called al-fahsha' (an obscene act), shudhudh (abnormality), or 'amal qawm Lut (behavior of the People of Lut). Islam teaches that believers should neither participate in nor support homosexuality.....

Treatment of Homosexuals
The following are excerpts on homosexuality, taken from the Saudi Ministry of Education Textbooks for Islamic Studies:

3. More on Islam and Homosexuality
The Qur'an and Homosexuality:
There are five references in the Qur'an which have been cited as referring to gay and lesbian behavior. Some obviously deal with effeminate men and "masculine women." The two main references to homosexual behavior are:
"We also sent Lut : He said to his people : "Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds." Qur'an 7:80-81
"What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, and leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are forward folk." Qur'an 26:165
Both references relate to gay sexual activities; lesbian practices are not mentioned in the Qur'an.
Lut is referred to as "Lot" in the Hebrew Scriptures. This passage is an apparent reference to the activities at Sodom and Gamorah. It seems to imply that there was no homosexual behavior before it first appeared in Sodom. This is a uniquely Islamic concept; it does not appear in Jewish or Christian beliefs. The passage also links the sin of Sodom (the reason for its destruction) to homosexuality.That linkage is contradicted by other verses in the Hebrew Scriptures.
The Hadith and homosexuality: The Hadith are collections of sayings attributed to Muhammad. Many Hadiths (ahadith) discuss liwat (sexual intercourse between males). Two examples are:
"When a man mounts another man, the throne of God shakes."
"Kill the one that is doing it and also kill the one that it is being done to." (in reference to the active and passive partners in gay sexual intercourse)
There is at least one mention of lesbian behavior mentioned in the Hadith: "Sihaq (lesbian sexual activity) of women is zina (illegitimate sexual intercourse) among them."
Traditionalist orthodox Muslims generally claim that the Hadith literature contains the authentic sayings of Muhammad. Many liberal Muslims doubt their authenticity. The latter might point out that during the times of the first Caliphs, Muslims did not know what to do with individuals guilty of "liwat/lutiyya". No sahabi (companion) of Muhammad could quote a saying or decision of Muhammad relating to this question....

I don't think you understand and get my point on sexual intercourse from MY STATEMENT that:

POINTS TO NOTE: THAT;
We are human beings (homo sapiens) but naturally there are only two species (of male & female gender) but all male have same organs likewise female. Therefore "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights....
Also fundamentally these are the main and only natural instincts we equally share in common; eat, drink, sexual intercourse, excretion, sleep, life, growth, reproduction & death.
But different mindsets (i.e mental phenomena or psychology of the individual) influence human behavior, attitudes, appetite (desire, pleasure), belief, opinion, creed and sense of perception;among others. I don't think sexual intercourse (canal or by penetration) is not happening or not important between gay/homosexual couples. Then how is adaptation of gay/homosexuality lifestyle or orientation different and morally right or good in society better than incest, bestiality and perverts; if it's all about craving for the natural love for SEXUAL INTERCOURSE. The bias shown against homosexuality by most religions including Islam and Christianity is based on historical and scientific ignorance ,in other words a complete lack of understanding. Kobo, your quote about Sexual Orientation is WRONG. Sexual orientation is NOT a life CHOICE. We are born with a certain sexual predisposition ie. heterosexual,homosexual ,in the wrong body (transgender)There is plenty of evidence to show that from an early age people are aware of their sexual orientation. The fact that gay men marry and have children only shows what is biologically possible. Being Gay and coming out is not easy for both men and women given the reaction by religious societies. I'll tell you what I really hate and that is any religion that claims it is " loving,compassionate,forgiving or understanding towards all mankind" when in fact they show no tolerance towards anything that threatens their control over their 'believers' As far as homosexuality goes it existed way before the Bible or Quran or any other book was written.It is not a 'western' thing as some people claim and is as prevalent in India, China, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Gambia, Uganda etc as it is in the UK,France, Spain or the US. Just imagine if heterosexuality was treated like homosexuality because it was a minority practice. All that hatred, for what, because you were born that way ! WAKE UP and educate yourselves. Don't accept blind faith. Question everything! Ah no you can't do that can you. Cos your religion controls you . You are not a free man. Ignorance is to be pitied but at least I understand why people hold the views you do. Islam needs to move forward into the 21st century as does certain sects within Christianity but unfortunately this ain't gonna happen ant time soon. Nuff said !! |
