I wonder what the circumstances are that lead to this?

The president has no power under the consitution to revoke the nomination of a serving member of parliament. This is nothing but arbitary.

Whatever that story is, it is irrevlvant to the issue here which is about the legality of the sacking of the speaker. I can categorically state that there is no legal basis for this. In fact it is nothing but arbitary.

Nyarikangbanna,
Yes I understand that, but how has the speaker come into conflict with the administration ?. I would have thought that a reason would have been given despite an incorrect route being taken, in your words"In fact it is nothing but arbitary."

Actaully the speaker is meant to come into conflict with the executive arm of government because parliament is not only meant to scrutunize government policies but actually hold them to account as designed by the constitution. They even have the power to sack the president. So regardless of what the speaker's wrongdoings are, it is the parliament itself that has the power to sack him/her, not the president. The office of the speaker suppose to be the second most important office of the land after the president's. This story is simply a travesty, whichever way you look at it.
