More messages for President Jammeh

Africa » Gambia
Monday, November 01, 2010
The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh has continued to receive more congratulatory messages from people within and outside the country on the auspicious occasion of the Muslim feast of Eid-Ul Fitr locally known as Koriteh; his new marriage; the 16th anniversary of the July 22nd Revolution; and for conferring national awards on outstanding individuals, Gambians and non-Gambians alike.
The latest messages came from Rodine S. Renner, Spectrum Manager of The Gambia Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA), Lamin Marong, messenger at the Office Of The Vice President and Modou Sowe, former Gendarmerie.

The messages read:

I write to convey to you, on my own behalf and that of my sisters Philian, Matty and my brother Felix Renner, our sincere gratitude and appreciation for the recognition given to our late and great father, Captain Eugene Edward Renner. In this regard reference is made to the award bestowed on my late father by Your Excellency namely the Insignia of Member of the National Order of the Republic of The Gambia (MRG). He was a Chief Pilot at The Gambia Ports Authority until his demise on 18th November 1993.

Your Excellency, as you have been well known to state that "you will only recognize people on merit", receiving this award on behalf of my late father for the entire family enabled me to walk tall and proud. On that day I was quick to feel within me that his tireless service and hard work was recognized based on merit by no one other than you, The President of The Gambia.

Your Excellency, what touched my heart most was that the awardees including that of my late father were no exclusive to just people in high positions, but included deserving Gambians and non-Gambian friends of The Gambia, irrespective of tribe, religion, sex, political affiliation or race. This in my mind demonstrates an exceptional human quality you possess and often demonstrate which is giving everybody equal opportunity to perform.

Your Excellency, in the same vein we (my sisters, brother and I) also want to whole heartedly express our appreciation for the confidence you have in our Dear Mother, Honourable Elizabeth Y Renner, bestowing on her with the Insignia of Commander of the National Order of the Republic of The Gambia (CRG). Both herself and my late father are our primary mentors and we shall aspire to emulate them in all that is good.

Your Excellency, may I at this point seize the opportunity to congratulate you and Her Excellency, Lady Alima Yahya Jammeh on your recent union through marriage. May the Almighty cement your marriage so that it flourishes and fosters unity and strength within the First Family, all Gambians and true friends of The Gambia.

Please accept Your Excellency, on behalf of my family, the assurance of our highest esteem.

Mr Rodine S Renner

..........................
On the auspicious occasion of the July 22nd Anniversary celebration. Your Excellency, The Gambia is still young but has already made big accomplishments in several sectors of our socio-economic development aspiration, especially during the Second Republic under your wise and distinguished leadership.

Your Excellency, you are upgrading the living standards of the Gambian people since your accession to the presidency, thus your efforts are highly worthy of commendation and salutation.

Since your coming to power, The Gambia has witnessed numerous and rapid achievements in key development areas such as health, education, agriculture, good road network, improved and advanced communication, and massive electrification projects, among others. Your goal is to transform The Gambia into an economic super power and you are already on track.

Health service delivery has been among the key pillars of Your Excellency's administration since 1994, impressive changes in human resources, biochemicals and medical drugs have been registered. For a country to develop, education must be given its utmost consideration and this you did. This should be set aside as a unique resource and must be emphasised always. The government under your Presidency embarked on a massive capital investment programme to provide education to all Gambians; the high level of illiteracy is fading away, as schools are built all over the country to the accessibility of all, especially the down trodden. The evolution of the University of The Gambia (UTG) is among the most acclaimed, historic product of the government under Your Excellency.

The agricultural sector has received no less attention from your government. With the Back To The Land initiative by Your Excellency, tremendous awareness has been registered on the significance of self-reliance. This sector has greatly contributed to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in conformity with the goals of achieving food self-sufficiency as enshrined in Vision 2020, which is also a reflection of the dictum of the MDGs.

Before the birth of the July 22nd Revolution, the then Gambia's utilities institution (i.e. GUC) was only to provide electricity to most of its customers for only 12 hours or generating capacity. Even the electricity supply was within a limited area. Today energy mode is possible by the increase in the number of generators. And the construction of a new power plant in Brikama under the watchful eyes of your administration. The rural electrification project has enabled towns and villages in rural Gambia to benefit from electricity supply, with new power stations installed in Barra-Essau, Kerewan, Farafenni, Kaur, Bansang and Basse.

The country's booming telecommunication sector has also given impetus to the growing financial sector. This is also attributed to the sound ICT policies of the government. From the beginning of the revolution, government ensured that existing roads are rehabilitated and new ones also constructed to facilitate the much-needed communication of continued development. The APRC government was also quick to realise the potentials of women and the key role they could play in national development. Women have therefore enjoyed equal opportunities since the advent of the revolution.

May Allah, the Almighty continue to guide President Jammeh and protect him in all his endeavors, and also our beloved nation The Gambia. Amen.

Lamin Marong

Your Excellency please allow me to congratulate you on the auspicious day of the Muslim feast of ‘Koriteh’. May I also use this opportunity to convey to you on behalf of myself and my entire family our sincere greetings to you and your family and pray to the Almighty Allah to bestow his blessing on you and pray for your continued good health and well being.

Your Excellency, since you assumed the mantle of leadership, The Gambia has developed at an incredible rate and has become a force to be reckoned with in all sectors, your desire and dream of making The Gambia the best around the world is not a secret to Gambians and this is manifested through your development blue prints. Your promise of making The Gambia a city state is fulfilled as the entire country is now criss-crossed with state-of-the-art road network, electricity and water supply taken to the length and breadth of the country, schools and health facilities dotted at the doorsteps of all Gambians, you have now also miraculously bridged places initially believed to be unbridgeable amongst many other development projects, no wonder you are "Babili Mansa" and above all, Gambians are assured of absolute peace and security. There is no doubt that where you taking The Gambia to is much better than where you took us from.

Sir you once again showed your high sense of philanthropic gesture and benevolence through your vital intervention by inundating the market with meat at an affordable price and making it accessible to the ordinary Gambians during the blessed month of Ramadan. This shows how sensitive you are to the plight of Gambians and Non-Gambians resident in the country.

Your Excellency I once again pray that Allah the Almighty continue to give you the means of developing this country and take it to where we all wish it to be and may you right over use for as long as you wish.

Your Excellency please accept the assurances of my highest consideration and esteem.

fankungfankung I think that you could have some interesting discussions here with the politicos and others for sensible ideas and discussion(most of the time!! ) about things Gambian , Bantaba in cyberspace is the place where ideas are formulated and sometimes are taken up by the Gambian Administration, you will have to wait a little to see if they will discuss things with you though .

"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.
