I Like Fankung Fankung a lot so I would Like to Ask and re-emphasize his Question whats wrong if the population voted to crown him Mansa? Its not like there is a viable opposition capable of voting the APRC out of office, despite the Voter Apathy due to watching too many soap operas(Esmeralda). The Gambian opposition is fragmented and lacks the resources to compete with the incumbent and any nyamato from the streets can asssure you that it's a fact..........................................Peace |

IT APPEARS THAT GAMBIA HAS NEVER GOT A KING? STILL WONDERING ANY HISTORIAN CAN HELP OR SOMEONE TO FORWARD THE FACTS PLEASE TAKE THIS ENQUIRY VERY SERIOUSLY AND CLEAR THE AIR
I ENDORSED 100% AND AGREE TO THIS COMMENT REPEATED AGAIN;
QUOTE EXTRACTED ABOVE:"What’s the problem here folks? I suspect some of these gambian guys are just jealous of his crown and soon to be titles; Cause Jammeh has been king for the longest time The brother just got some new set of accessories to mount." Fatou Jaw MANNEH
I think this article from Freedom newspaper by Jeggan Grey-Johnson is interesting read! Freedom online nwspaper Gambia: 2011 poll is fundamentally about the next generation- forget the notions of a Monarchy! under http://www.freedomnewspaper.com/Homepage/tabid/36/mid/367/newsid367/5727/Gambia-2011-poll-is-fundamentally-about-the-next-generation--forget-the-notions-of-a-Monarchy/Default.aspx |

If this Kingship thing is put to a vote in the form of a referendum to change the Constitution, it passes overwhelming. I have not doubt whatsoever about that. For all intent and purpose, the Sheikh has powers akin to a King so what is the big deal.
The actual question we should be asking ourselves as Gambian is what can we do about it? And the answer I am afraid is absolutely nothing! Folks this is what we have become as a society. The question now is how low can we go...? |

Mansa, we ain't reached the floor yet and thats the reason why no one cares. Personally speaking I doubt if some of the laws passed are draconian anyways or the powers vested upon the president. The laws helped them consolidated their power in a changing political landscape. Can't blame em one bit, it's a politicians ideal moment to implement and enact laws beneficial to their cause. Thats typically what happens in the event the opposition loses it's direction and bargains it's presence in the National Assembly calling it boycott, Just food for thought after 46 years of Independence no one in their right minds spoke of a presidential term limit. Not PPP, APRC, NCP, UDP, PDOIS, the semester parties don't count, they are Vultures. Gambians like Mansaships undercover and are in denial you can bet on this, during the PPP era it was common to hear people say PABI, well to me when he became PABI he should have retired............................................................Peace quote: Originally posted by mansasulu

Mansa usually has a good wisdom. I love the objective 'We' approach instead of blaming some scape goats for the problems gambia is facing. Karamba, are you reading? |
diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

Foroyaa Online National news -
i. Interview with Halifa Sallah Could President Jammeh Be Crowned King? Part ONE under http://www.foroyaa.gm/modules/news/article.php?storyid=5643
"Halifa: As the old saying goes there is no smoke without fire. Whether the campaign is based on a party policy or a mistaken vision of party enthusiasts it cannot be ignored and should not be ignored. It should be nipped in the bud right away."
ii. INTERVIEW WITH HALIFA SALLAH Could President Jammeh Be Crowned King? Part TWO under http://www.foroyaa.gm/modules/news/article.php?storyid=5651
"Halifa: It is unfortunate that we have too many people spreading confusion and too few working to enlighten the people."
I repeat, “This is impossible.” I am sure neither the executive nor the National Assembly will ever make such an attempt because they know the implications. I also know the implication of such travesty of the Constitution and I could be counted to be among the political leaders who would be at the fore front to stop it from materializing and law, reason, history and the people would be on my side."
"I personally want to give you the irrevocable assurance that I would not be alive to see the day when a sovereign Gambian like my very self is crowned King of the Gambia . I would not be in exile or in prison. I would be six feet deep in the ground waiting for the future generation of truly sovereign Gambians to give me a fitting burial when they restore the Republic."

A writer for Gambia Echo online news subscribe to above comments as quoted; "It has been said that the people get the government they deserve. Or the government is a reflection of its people. What does your political situation say about Gambians? Every one seems to blame your prospective King, but what of the people who have put and kept him in power and now want to make him king? He cannot and does not act in a vacuum!"

From what we can all see with open eyes, Yaya Jammeh turned impotent serving in that seat of Gambian president. Being the case that Gambia holds no position of King, Yaya will appear most unreasonable choosing to acquire a faked title never before.
Halifa has a strong position on this matter and every good Gambia will be helping the occasion by taking the position of Halifa about this matter. It is not likely that Yaya will ever succeed playing the game beyond the post this time round.
Big shame to Yaya Jammeh and all those with him on a voyage to sink Gambia. |

Jammeh The Last King of Britannia and The Mansa of The Kuningmbalolu - By Prince Bubacarr Sankanu @ maafanta.com http://www.maafanta.com/SankanuOnJammehKingCoronation.html
Another masterpiece from “His Serene Highness (HSH) Prince Bubacarr Aminata Sankanu, FSP” Is Jammeh jealous? Maybe yes, maybe not..............................................................!?!?
Quote: ........Mr. President you are very jealous guy. Since the last time I wrote that I do not need to seek elections to build my own fabulous Principality to rival say, Monaco, you started fantasizing about transforming in the Gambia into your kingdom with no “elections.” You are not satisfied with the rare chance Gambian taxpayers gave you and you are still struggling to enslave them. If a Gambian imports an expensive car, you seize it. If a Gambian operates a successful business you hijack it. If a Gambia becomes popular you fight him. If a Gambian woman defends the rights of women without politics, you set a trap for her. If any Gambian man proves to be a lady's man you run after his life. The moment I started using my simple title “Prince”, you too wanted to get a noble one. Are you seriously maintaining the fantasy that out of the 1.8 million Gambians you and your family are the only ones who have the rights to govern or be successful in life?
Your are just wasting your time. Your titles are artificial and empty. My own official title “His Serene Highness (HSH) Prince Bubacarr Aminata Sankanu, FSP” is more authentic, sexier and original than yours. You can use the titles of the professors, doctors, kings and so on but stay away from my own titles “His Serene Highness”, “His Serene Prince” and “His Serenity.” They are off-limit for the common man. If you use them I would sue you for usurpation, impersonation and identity theft. The tiled “Serene Prince” is not for cowards. You have to have the noble blood of a warrior in you, be of noble birth, married a nobility or earned it through smart productive work..........

I do not think anyone can argue with this fact “Jammeh is not the problem of The Gambia. The real problems are the excessive greed of the selfish Gambians who are destroying each other just to appease President Jammeh and, the “KUNINGMBALIYA” or lack of awareness. Our people are not aware or as the Wolofs would call it “EWU.” This is what Jammeh and his helpers are exploiting.” Bubacarr Sankanu. In the Gambian every one with a high school education wants to be a minister and most if not all will do anything to achieve that goal. Now a days Gambians will cheat, lie and betray other Gambians just to get close to power.
