There I was thinking that I know about things,now being able to cut and paste thanks to bantaba posters. how wrong I was you fellows are talking way over my head

You can run Ubuntu in KDE. That is the Kubuntu flavor by the way. Regarding staroffice, I have a feeling that oracle won't put any resources in developing it any further. It will eventually wither away.
