What guarantees that you will stop the corruption and waste? What is your solution? Don’t tell me you are ‘good person’ and will not do corruption. How will you improve the efficiency? Travel allowance? How much money spent on Travel allowance? Show me the figures? lol.
And here is what I expect you to focus. Constitutional change.
1. Constitutional Reform. a. I would not even consider any limit for political term limit. My principle that, anyone should run for a political position as long as they desire. It is not up to them to hold the power; it is up to voters to elect them. If they are not good enough, there is a mechanism to bring him or her down. b. Legislation would have total authority to make law. In addition legislation has the authority to bring down the Executive (Prime Minister) with the vote of confidence. c. National Assembly would have 100 members for every 4 years. The election of these members is very complex. i. Regional Representatives: 70 members are elected from political party candidates/Independents. Based on the population, there would be ridings. These members would represent different ‘region’. ii. The political parties must have at least one fourth women candidate in their candidate. iii. Expert Representatives: 20 Members are elected from expert reserve poll. These are not regional based, they are national representative. The most voted candidates will be elected representing the nation. The qualifications of these members are strict. They must have university/college degree. This way, the parliament will also have members representing the ‘nation’ not only region who have skills and qualifications during the legislation process. iv. 10 Members are elected by the Prime Minister who forms the Government. These 10 Members will be candidate by the political parties as reserve. When Government are established. They will become members of National Assembly. This is to give the additional power to the biggest political group in the parliament a push to have majority to overcome the deadlock in possible coalition or minority government situation. v. Executive is no longer is president. The presidential system have tendency to became totalitarian system, and presidents became a dictator and they stay in power for long time. The executive is the PM and the cabinet. And executive stay in the power as long as they have confidence in the parliament. vi. There would be still president with little power as the head of the Government. The president would be elected by the national assembly for 7 years. d. De-centralization: i. There would be local government reform and cities/towns/villages function micro central government (It has legislative/executive power) having certain authorities. ii. Education, Health, Infrastructure would be executed by the local governments. Also, they would have taxation power. The purpose of this to share the political power horizontally. iii. Central government would have role for planning, setting standards and auditing the services and the standards of local government. But the daily execution of government function would be the local governments. e. Army and Police i. Army would not have any role in internally. Their duty is to protect the borders. f. There would be different groups of policing i. Rangers: Dealing with Traffic, applying rule of regulation of government, in commerce area, tourism etc. They are under the authority of local government. ii. Police: Dealing with crime. Under the authority of Local Government. iii. Special Security Forces: Dealing with national security. Under the authority of Central Government. iv. Rural Police: Under the authority of Central Govern.ent.

As a president, you need to be secular. But the quote above, using 'we' is the indication that you are going to involve the change of religion of Gambians which is the fundamental right of religious freedom of Gambians who are Muslims and Christians and you will advocate on the conversion to animism. I say kayjatta is going to establish a anti-secular theocratic state when he became the president based on his intension. Outrages. Your religious stand is going to turn Gambia to theocratic state like Saudi Arabia.lol.
So the question is why Muslims and Christians should elect you as president while you have a personal agenda that you want to change the religion of the nation? Looking forward to hearing from you. :)

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |
