First of all, anyone, regardless of religion (as usual we hear the news about catholic priests' abuses) whereever, there are 'young children' and 'adult' interaction, potentially, the problem exist. This is not only for church, similar problem occur even in secular public institutions, Islamic boarding schools, Asia, Africa everywhere.

The problem is attached with the churches more frequently, why

1. They have autonomy/or less control from the government authority.
2. They are not teachers, they are priest but taking the role of 'teaching'. Are they qualified to be a teacher?

But the most important thing is that they are 'single forever' and 'not allowed to have sex' and they usually live in a closed door environment with not so much 'social activity'. That is very significant differences when you profile these sick criminals. An Imam at least has a family, live within the society like everyone else, not in a church. After the the work hours the imam is civilian.

I support religious/private education with qualified teachers not with priest or imam as long as they have to apply standards of good education. In Turkey, there are religious schools but the teachers are not imam. They have to have a 4 years degree on subjects like Islam, Islamic History, Philosophy and other subjects are teaching religion is their professional job during 9 to 5. They are professional teachers. Religious institution should never been in business of teaching. Yes to a religious education but no to a religious education by a religious institution.

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.
