I currently use Skype and VoipBuster but this one too sounds interesting.

The only trouble with Google is that in order to use anything other than a search engine of google offerings you have to join a google account and give all your personal details to their database, personally I have a problem with this ,who knows what they will do with your personal details, sell them to retail outlets for marketing purposes? I am a little concerned with the growth of the survaillence society, am I alone ? Do other bantaba posters have my concern? Voipbuster is a great service, skype has more market share but my concerns apply to them as well as to google,Facebook, twitter, bebo, and the rest of the new social networking sites. A free lunch does not exist, nothing is free in this world |

Toubab, I agree with you. These services collect lots of information about us but so does all other internet services. Anyway, they have come here to stay so lets just hope that the information gathered does not end up in wrong hands.
A few days ago I realised that my skype account was set to automatically re-fill more money whenever it reaches a certain minimum amount. I have now deactivated option. One has to be careful. There is no free lunch anywhere.

Momodou, there is a lot of this "Oh sorry its a mistake" going on with many services that we use that are obtainable over the WWW and such "option tick boxes" are often hidden or very difficult to find, its only after you have received a bill and checked that the "mistake" is found, by that time of course you have paid, banks and insurance companies are often the worst culprits with this form of mistake culture. You have to check every single bill that comes along for services these days, its part of the accepted rip off culture that has developed and appears to be accepted by many. |
