Apparently, it is not working for France. South Africa scored two goals to nil ,for France. Moreover the game is 11 players (South Africa) vs 10 players (France), after the France 9, Cisse had a red card. Possibly in the second half, game changers like Henry will do better to uplift their spirit. Already, South Africa had atleast 65-70% ball control, which is a winning mechanism.

All hopes are that South Africa is winning today because the game favors them in all areas. If the momentum continues, we might at least see one more goal from South Africa. Instead of capitalizing on defense to prevent goals, they should maintain the aggression, just like they did in the first half, and aim at more goals. You can't loose by getting more goals, O yes!

South Africa did excellent. They won the game, with 2 to 1. They lost ball-control in the second half, from their previous hold (about 65%) to about 40%; their defense leaked, France mounted a strong aggression, together with ball-control strategy, giving a goal to france -which was a cheap one. One would imagine an equalizer from France, had the game continued for another 10 minutes. Well, it is 90 mins with injury 3 minutes. The first half was definitely a game for South Africans.

Also, in the first half, France had a field error (mistakes) possibly about 45%, while South Africa minimized theirs at around 5% -each in overall percentile. In the second half, South Africa played an error of about 40%, and France kept theirs at around 10% -each in overall percentile.

The boys made us proud. Mandela at 90, will truly like the ending days of his life; a smiley Mandela, proud of his true struggle, and all that South Africa has accomplished, from the days of Soweto, to the days of hosting a world cup. Those that witnessed the two historic moments, are in joyous mood today, especially with the perfomance of their own team, right at home.

let us celebrate!

After that, we now ask: What next for the African teams?

South Africa's wining is not enough. Both France and South Africa are out of the competition.
------------------------
The following summary is culled from FIFA.com

Bafana beat Bleus, both bow out

South Africa beat France 2-1 for only their second FIFA World Cup™ victory, but both teams ultimately emerged losers in Bloemfontein. Carlos Alberto Parreira's team became the first host nation to fail to qualify for the tournament's second round whereas a miserable campaign from the French came to a predictable conclusion as they also bowed out of South Africa 2010.

The African side's story was ultimately one of disappointment as they exited their own tournament on goal difference with Mexico taking the second qualifying place in Group A behind Uruguay. For France there was further ignominy as a second defeat in three games provided a fitting epitaph to the sense of disharmony which had infected Raymond Domenech's squad virtually since the opening game.

The beleagured coach, who now leaves his post, made six changes to the team that had gone down to Mexico in their previous game - with captain Patrice Evra one of those dropped. However, initially France promised to lift the gloom for their followers with some attacking thrusts. One should have seen Andre-Pierre Gignac fire them into an early lead but he could only direct his attempt straight at Moneeb Josephs who was deputising in the South African goal for the suspended Itumeleng Khune. Djibril Cisse then flicked on Abou Diaby's floated pass but again the goalkeeper was behind it all the way.

Bafana Bafana were not short of voluble support and the stadium erupted with joy in the 20th minute when they took the lead. It followed a right-sided corner which precipitated a mistake by Hugo Lloris who was unable to put a glove on the ball, allowing Bongani Khumalo to profit from his towering leap at the far post and a downward header gave the host nation the lead.

Their hopes raised, South Africa kept pouring forward in search of further goals which would be crucial if it came down to goal difference. At the other end of the field came a decision that would help their cause as Yoann Gourcuff duelled for an aerial ball with MacBeth Sibaya and was shown the red card as the home midfielder lay on the ground requiring treatment.

Parreira's side sensed their chance as 12 minutes later Katlego Mphela bundled the ball in at the far post after Tsepo Masilela's ball across had caught the French defence in confusion. News that Uruguay had taken the lead against Mexico only added to the sense of euphoria around the stadium and not even a chance for France, which William Gallas failed to seize as a free-kick found him unmarked in the area, could dampen it down.

Mphela drew a fingertipped save from Lloris and it was he who led the charge for second-half goals, striking the crossbar, demanding another fine stop from the keeper, and then burrowing his way through only to find the side-netting.

In the final reckoning those misses were to prove crucial. In the 70th minute France took a lot of sting out of South Africa's attacks as Florent Malouda, who had just appeared off the substitute's bench, was on hand to roll the ball home after Franck Ribery had unselfishly squared the ball into his path.

A clear conscience fears no accusation - proverb from Sierra Leone

This is one of the situations where the rules of the game determine the next level. With their performance, a lay man like me, would have thought that they will propel to the next level. It all comes to the goal difference. It also corrects my mention of Cisse on my earlier thread on the issued red card. Eitherway, a win at home in that game is still victory for us, as far as we can analyze.

Long live African hope for the glittering cup!!

It continues with the other games………

Thanks

Am I the only person who is not being sucked into this South African extravaganza in spite of my PAN views? I am sorry but I have no connection to these people other than the fact that we share the African Continent. When they had apartheid, every single African country under the sun was supporting the natives and calling for the end of the regime. After that regime ended, some Africans who went to South Africa were brutally butchered by the native South Africans and their guts ripped apart, apparently for taking their menial jobs. Africans who were even legally there were treated that way by these savages. It was not the White South Africans who were doing this; it was in fact the Black South Africans. I have no connection to these people and the ridiculous claim by certain people that is an African world cup is nothing but lies. It is a South African world cup and they are welcome to it end of story. I want nothing to do with these people. I will continue to support the Sub-Saharan African teams but South African is not included.
