Karamba, Ask yourself why Julbrew never had financial difficulties in a predominantly moslem country 90 percent of the population. They will not buy your Wonjo juice or "icy bui" but try making some kind of concoction and see how lucrative your business will be. You'll never know who consumes it either..................................................Peace

Thats whats up Kita? Don't let them fool ya or even try to school ya. Most of the diaspora will not vote or have a say in the elections anyways. They are all sitting here running newspapers for you and I. less than 5% of the Gambian population has access to the internet and they are more worried about Hi5 , facebook and Myspace. I hope they know that the diaspora which I and many represent , Well we are tired of this nonsense. All ya'll doing is tarnishing the Image of our nation and costing your brother a livelihood. Ask your Artist brothers, the carvers,Painters etc? They are busy painting on fences nowadays. Tourism is taking it's last breaths in Gambia all because of you cyber fools, The question is how do they ever plan on restoring what they stole from Us. Right when you type Gambia in your browser, The first thing you see is signs of paranoid schizophrenics lurking around. CONAKRY - On Sunday, June 27, 2010 the polls opened in Guinea and New York City as the worldwide efforts began to support their historic first democratic elections. The advancement of democracy led thousands of Guineans living in New York to line up since 3:00am in the morning to provide their absentee vote at the 135th street YMCA Harlem location. The polls opened at 7:00am and the police barricades surrounded the entire block. The scene attracted an audience of tourists and Sunday churchgoers to take photos and become involved in the action. The Harlem YMCA poll station closed at 7:00pm and was organized by the Republic of Guinea consulate in New York.

The joint election efforts made by Americans and the international community were tremendous. The Atlanta-based Carter Center, known for helping to improve the quality of life for people in more than 70 countries has deployed over 100 observers to monitor the electoral process in Guinea. In addition, non-profit organization Alliance Guinea comprised of many former Peace Core volunteers have teams on the ground in Guinea and in the U.S. nationwide utilizing the
Ushahidi (Swahili for testimony or witness) software to maintain transparency by tracking and reporting incidents.

I must admit I am very impressed with Moe's idea of Diaspora voting... The make over is impressive and it seems to come with practical reality.

I have always thought that Moe has more to offer than many postings he has tried to champion here. I can also understand some of the frustration people like Moe may have to endure online. Gambians had our own share of self destruction in cyber space.

I happen to believe that it comes with the introduction of new technology and evolution of our online communities.

I have always advocated that there is a difference between the President or the ruling party and the country - Gambia. It is politics that divides us but Gambia is what unites us.

The online media has evolved a lot and so are the readers and online communities..

There are a lot more positive stories about Gambia than we have learned in previous years... we still have a long way to go..

Part of the evolution is that there are people who refused to engage in cheap shots and empty name calling... They have held up their heads high and stood up for integrity.

Yes, our president is another issue, yes APRC is another issue, Yes the opposition is another issue (Don't get me started) and Yes, most Diaspora Gambians are part of the problem and not the solution....

It is time we see each other as Gambians with common interest and destiny...

A step in the right direction Moe and we must all look within ourselves and differentiate between right and wrong. When the party or person we support is on the wrong side of history we must NOT be hesitant to call it what it is...

Our intellectual maturity certainly surpasses what we have demonstrated online... We have some of the best and brightest...

We must rise up to the occasion... thus my very humble reason for declaring my pledge to rise up above partisan politics. Gambia is the central focus...

Thanks

Demba
