I think forget about online voting. It is very convenient for voters but it is very difficult, not very secure, to implement such system. I think best thing to do is polling stations abroad and consulates.

Election Day, there may be polling stations would get votes, in the cities where Diaspora lives. Gambians consulates would serve as polling stations or additional polling station can be arranged in cities where Gambians live.

That is the only realistic option I think.

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.

Gambia may have agreement with a country for example UK, Senegal to use their consulate as a polling in some countries where Gambia does not have representatives.

Thats also feasible and It would be the easiest way out.The fact is there has to be a solution to the impending problems. Voting by mail is another option. In America voting by mail is a norm..............................................Peace

I'll give you something else to laugh about. The tin numbers are unique and almost every employable Gambian has one. These unique tin numbers are already available at the Social security administration. There is some kind of Datawarehousing already available. Establishing a relationship for each voter as in using a combination of the unique registration numbers tin numbers and date of birth can suffice. It could be used to establish the primary and secondary relationships for voters. In the Case an unacceptable vote is casted it can be dumped into the Virtual area, meaning votes that need to be reconsidered or investigated simply because non of the necessary identifications matched. Online voting might not be a solution due to the number of Gambians with access to the online environment yet it is feasible and it can self audit itself............................................Peace

As old as I am, I still don't know what my home address is. There is a lot of work to be done in identifying and mapping of neighborhoods. The compound numbering used during major surveys could be used or established as new street addresses and clearly marked. I really was fed off of being given directions and told to look for Landmarks and the fallen tree around the corner.By the way I like the new Avatar, I like the way the lion struts it's confidence................................................Peace

Moe, these are interesting proposals for the IEC.

Although the tin numbering and the new biometric systems are long over due, we still have some pending issues. We need to have unique numbering of streets in the urban areas and some sort of compound numbering in villages in order to correctly identify individuals. I don’t know if it is part of the local government reform but correct mapping is also long overdue.

Moe, I could tell you'd not resist wanting that lion being you. No trade offs though. Leave this one to go. Don't be like your captain. Let Momodou retain the lion share of the beef on Bantaba, a fairer deal I thought.

But, Moe, with little efforts, you stand becoming a lion. You have a real battle to win that title. The day you drive sense in the rigid mind of captain, I will make personal appeal for Kitabul Arerr to grant you the title of Bantaba Lion.

I think you are giving me more than I can Bargain for. I can't even convince myself, what makes you think I can convince someone who already has his mind made up and more experienced in the Field and his people. The problem is not Jammeh, Karamba it's the Gambian people.I think you are a bit jealous of the Lion Avatar Karamba, Kitabul is already frustrated and sobbing.............................................Peace
