Deep silence of Gambia's most vocal public figure president Jammeh over the recent drug discovery is causing louder noise of enquiry by curious observers. People are asking if the president is not aware of the news about Gambia being turned into a drug dealing empire. Though the prospects of drilling oil from Gambia stand very remote, president Yaya Jammeh was very quick to announce with much publicity that the lucrative resource is set for exploitation. Since then for many years, Gambians have seen nothing to suggest oil coming any way near.

With discovery of so much drugs, is that substitute for oil then? A nation cannot stay on hoping for longer than needed. Should the oil promise of president Yaya Jammeh come to be true, let nobody pray for the explosive chemistry of drugs, weapons, and crude oil. No, not until there is enough security to block the cruel hands of manipulative drug cartels reaching out.

People in their small corners are asking if the president is yet to be informed officially before he makes a public policy statement. It is not also clear what the government policy stands over drug and weapons.

Even before this massive discovery, it appeared as though Gambia already had signals of a drug ridden environment.

May be president Jammeh speaks up sooner than later so that public confidence is restored. Gambia Armed Forces Ruling Government GAFRG is ranked by the country's president as one that stands for the people. Now is better time to defend the nation against cruel drug traders.

Are there other locations where drugs may be harboured? Will the president pass orders so that all warehouses and privately shut doors get searched, including those in and around Kanilai?

Charity begins at home. When the president opens doors to his warehouses for inspection, that will serve a compelling obligation on the side other shut doors.

The long hands of global competence seem far reaching according this information below:

At long last, Yaya Jammeh breaks his deep silence over the drug menace. He advised Gambian youths to drink palm wine as opposed to using drugs. In his words according the Point, Jammeh speaks:

http://thepoint.gm/africa/gambia/article/jammeh-talks-tough-on-drugs

http://observer.gm/africa/gambia/article/president-jammeh-reiterates-zero-tolerance-for-drugs-1

Wait a minute, just before you go, remember that few days after seizing power by coup on 22 July 1994, lieutenant Jammeh warned against DICTATORSHIP in Gambia.

He turned out the most notorious dictator, to an extent he came clear enough to declare himselof DICTATOR OF DEVELOPMENT.

I may be missing out something but find it hard to reconcile Jammeh's words and actions.

Is this not another deviation from the truth? Already his name is featuring in court about drug dealings.

Anti-drug crusade boosted by Hatab Fadera: Observer-Gambia

...Speaking earlier, the secretary general and head of the Civil Service, Dr Njogu Bah commended President Jammeh for the gesture, underscoring that it will go a long way in enabling the NDEA operatives to deliver effectively as expected of them. He further expressed hope that the vehicles will go a long way in enabling the Agency to enforce the anti-drug laws and cover every area of the country.

Also speaking at the occasion, the minister of the Interior, Ousman Sonko commended President Jammeh for what he described as a laudable gesture. He described the donation as another manifestation of the president's concern to fight the illicit drug trade, noting that the timely gesture will go a long way in enhancing the service delivery of the NDEA.While describing mobility as very important in the execution of their duties, the Interior minister challenged the NDEA officials to take proper care of the vehicles and use them for the intended purpose. ...

Janko,

I can't fix the jigsaw at the level where vehicles are needed to arrest drug traders using sea routes. Also, if there is need to add more vehicles, how does that tie to capturing more drug traders?

Karamba,
well, the puzzle ... Ousman Sonko, minister of the Interior," described the donation as another manifestation of the president's concern to fight the illicit drug trade,..."
I hope that helps in unraveling the jigsaw

Look Karamba you and your Jigsaws, it's obvious they cannot rely on horses and donkeys to do anything . Transportation is a step in the right direction. It has nothing to do with capturing drug dealers ,the whole idea is to be mobile to do their jobs more effeciently. C'mon men etay fanang................................................Peace

Karamba it seems you've turned into a cul da sac with your tangents. I would suggest you do a u-turn as you've definitely reached a dead on this one. Or will you continue to keep on going round and round the bend driving us mad with your incomplete jigsaw. I'm quite sure you've started to put the jigsaw pieces together incorrectly in the first place no wonder you can't get them to fit! I know, why don't you start a new puzzle? Maybe just, just maybe, you'll have a better chance of success next time![;)]

The Observer reporter’s choice of word is unfortunate. Hence, to "donate" connotes; free will, gift; whiles a government bestows or make available resources to her departments…

Janko, anyone who simply questions the president's gifts runs into trouble. For long time now, it has been the president providing, providing, providing. That is an established norm.

Mi Lion, Moe, don't be carried away by Queen Omega. She, like you, can't claim ignorance of all that is going wrong. Your big difference is that, you on your part get nearer light while Sister Omega prefers the thickest dark all the time.

Sister, these are genuine questions and captain seems paying attention. Let us agree this time round, that Chairman is expected talking tough, and so he did. I might as well add a word of bravo for the zeal.

Chairman is talking tough. Let's hear what others say too.
