Another Imam Murdered
http://observer.gm/africa/gambia/article/imam-murdered
The trend is very scary. It is very unGambian in all assessments. I hope the killer(s) will be served with a niche of justice.
R.I.P!

*UnGambian -not the Gambia I have known.

This is not only sad but very terrible indeed. Where are these people getting guns from? I hope The Gambia would not become a gun culture like other parts of the World. |

More details are emerging...and here is an e-mail from Abdou Karim Sanneh (UK); who received an e-mail from one of his friends.
Please read...
Yero, Let Observer stop telling us the half true of the story. This is how the incident happen. Please read the e-mail below:-
quote: Karim, what a sad day for our nation as such large quantity of hard drug could be found in a state that has no clue how those drug are made. It is just the few who are involved in this and could lead to more suspicion or even sanctions on what we could as a nation because of few selfish individuals. The worst of it hit me yesterday when I received a call from Gambia that a Family member was shot dead (three bullets and try to burn him) in the same area as the said drug were found. The man is an old man who went to his garden to harvest his cashews seeds between Pirang and Bonto. Yet no one is arrested and the dead body was not release up to the time of writing to you. His name was Dodou Mbayfar who was an Islamic student in Pirang and has his wife and children there. Also they are claiming that it might have been done by rebels. Rebels from where is what baffled me? I leave you to make your own mind. I am sad and disgusted about how oridinary lives are wasted for ! personal gains. Mate, keep the good work. Good Luck and a nice weekend.

KAY,your words are so true, there is little liklyhood that those who have tasted this drug money would ever consider the good of a country above their own greed, the world is now a very ugly place with no self resect,as I have said before everything is about MONEY. The world as I knew it certainly is VERY different now.Genuine fun laughter, enjoyment ,happyness have all been corrupted in the passing of time, very sad.

so sad, but there is definately something behind this, a gun taken to this village, and a man of high reputation is shot. This sounds like a revenge killing. BUT THE BIGGER QUESTION IS WHY is it happening, gambia never had this kind of culture. |

I do not know why this Imam was murdered,I think it unlikely that it was because he was an Imam, other reasons are the cause of his murder, I think that until more facts come to light either from his family friends villagers or a police investigation it would not be polite to speculate whilst the family are still in a state of shock over his death.Guns are used by criminals to kill people that is a fact.

A very touching situation. Imagine the poor imam, a farmer like he was, so ordinary a person -heading to his cashew farm, only to meet his tragic death. It was not a snake-bite, injuries from fighting, etc...but gun bullets cutting right through his soul, to call it rest.
Thanks for comments ya'all. Indeed sad!
