I am very baffled Anna being simple and a man of course ! I decided to look up the meaning of 'Morte Subit' which I had never heard of not being a scholar like yourself, couldnt find very much, but this page looked fun and those words were mentioned therein:

http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~jbs/godof2.htm

here you are:
"Morte Subit - Brussels centre - somewhere near the Theatre de la Monnaie.

Excellent olde worlde bar serving the infamous Mort Subite beers on draught - quite a rarity! The bar is all wood panelled, revolving door, antique mirrors, posters and stained glass everywhere to be seen. Typical surly waiters who can be slow to serve - but the beers are well worth the wait! No smoking area in the front half of the bar (miserable ******s...)"

Ahh.......... Anna you are playing with us men,you were talking about this,

http://www.beersofeurope.co.uk/acatalog/Beers_of_Europe__Morte_Subite_40.html

BUT you missed the "e" off the end,you didnt do that on purpose, did you

And This:

We need to go back in time for 80 years to explore the origin of this unusual name. About 1910 Mr. THEOPHILE VOSSEN ran an establishment called "LA COUR ROYALE". Amongst his many customers were a lot of employees working at the National Bank of Belgium. Those employees passed their time in the pub playing a dives game called "421". Before returning to the office , the employees played a quick last game and the one who lost was called the: "MORT SUBITE" or the sudden death.

Very soon this name became well known and when THEOPHILE VOSSEN moved to this actual address in 1928 he decided to call his pub: "AT THE MORT SUBITE". The same name as this own beers.

His sons and grandsons René and Jean-Pierre VOSSEN continued the tradition for more than 36 years.

Today, the fourth generation of the VOSSEN family Olivier and Bernard, continuous to serve you these delicious Gueuze beers in the same establishment which also retains the original 1928 decor.

Even though I am not a drinker I think this place looks great,ANNA and TURK,if we ever get to Belgium at the same time I will buy you both a glass here

Turk, perhaps you're right but then perhaps you're not. I'll investigate that when i can think of nothing better to do (which might be in twenty something years).

But some of your observations are dead wrong: i never touched a Yulbrew in my life. That i am more of a wine-woman doesn't mean i do not know about beers and so i would suggest that next time you try a 'Morte Subit'. Since you are good at languages you will understand that the consequences might be fatal !

Turk, always the 'great teacher'.

Since this whole topic is addressed to Momodou, he might consider to organise a 'Mr Know-it-all' contest. And the nominees are...

It is great you are willing to buy only a 'glass' (Are you a Scottish?), because socializing with a big drinker like Anna would be very expensive event for you. Me always knows my limit and do not drink more than two most and usually one (330 cl bottle of beer). You can force me to have the third one if you want me to strip though.

I was careful with my words when I said "glass" for this establishment sells beer on "draught" which means from a beer pump,so the glass could be any size you like, however in this case 330cl glass is what I am offering

I am not from Scotland I am from England (which is part of the UK the previous administration did'nt appear to see it that way though,Gordon Brown and his lot )the people of Scotland have a great deal of problems, just look at this:

I was referring your being Scottish not because of the amount of alcohol, it was because the number of the glass you are willing to buy. Anyway, I will take your offer and have a 500cl glass which is usual size of glass for serving beer. I am afraid Anna will request a beer glass for her wine, so you are screwed big time.

Well, its only money and I do live in England not Gambia where money is rarely available for luxuries only for survival,ANNA I am sure will only have a wine glass, you can have the beer glass.I am sure that ANNA is very sophisticated in how she handles wine and drinks for social pleasure amongst good company (don't know how she will react to our company though ) and for no other reason.

I think you and I always are very good mannered, polite and respectful. To be honest Anna's aggressive approach always scares me, but you know how the women are like. :)

Toubab, i am just as baffled: i come home from a long day at work and find you two guys talking behind my back !

Confusing hey, this French language! Is it la morte or le mort . Who cares, anyway! Of course i didn't seriously want Turk to drop dead just like that but i think he should have spent some more time in rehab.

Well, we're terribly off topic so my sincere apologies to all Bantaba members (to make the circle round again).
BTW, the Manchester pubs look nice but did you know Antwerp is little more than an hour's drive from my house. Beautiful city with lots of nice terraces where Mort Subite and Kriek Lambiek are advertised everywhere. Not that i would touch it, beer with a raspberry taste, yuk. If i am thirsty, i drink water. If i want to pamper myself i drink dry wine from a long stemmed wine glass, very sophisticated indeed . Concerning your offer: promises, promises.............(but you know what men are like!!).

I think my rehab suffice ...... to clean my soul. I have cleaned all of my sin meditating and consuming local vegetation. Thanks for the hospitality of the village of ginnack island. We were enjoying the opportunity to talk to 'a woman' (not many here), to 'a woman talking about beverages' (not exist here). If you even participate in sports talk (not exist anywhere), I think I might even pop the question.

Yeah, the local vegetation of Ginnack Island is good for cleaning souls but also for damaging brain cells unfortunately!
Turk, Holland will beat Denmark, Japan and Cameroon but don't pop questions because i am a granny already (which is why i don't know how to handle mobiles with browsers to check the internet). Let's listen to the wise Toubab(1020) and be decent members of the Bantaba community again and be serious (i.e. go back to the major topics and watch other members calling each other names).
Enjoy the weekend!
