At this crucial time in our pollitical history, we are all gaping waiting for great god to come from the skies and salvage our dear motherland. Brothers hustling in the wilderness hoping to go back home oneday and reap the benefits of their long rough and raggedy struggles. No wonder everyone is crying for peace for the Gambia from every nook and cranny of the world. The struggle is too hard. Life ain't easy for the blackman anywhere in the world. Who wants to go home just to open your eyes to the realities of carnage and all sorts of brutality? I for one don't. Do you? Certainly not.
As the saying goes, "strike the iron while its red hot", this existing political moment is the Gambia's litmus test. We either come out positive, or god forbids. As a young Gambian, i always used to comfort myself with the belief that the Gambia won't get hit by any catastrophe because its a "muslim" country. I know i was very ignorant. We are not. We are just part of the black entirety hoodwinked to adopt foreigh ideologies. Palestinians are dying daily. They are muslims. Iraqis are dying. They are muslims. Don't get me wrong, i never will go out of my senses to wish such a situation for the Gambia, but sometimes, we have to free our thoughts and think about the unthinkable.
Are we doomed? Is it the end for the Gambia? Hell no!!. But we are not doing enough. The Gambian in general is very selfish. We don't want to carry each other's burden. I have read few postings at this Bantaba where people in the Gambia call us in the Diaspora "howling wolves" simply because we are in the West so we want them to face the wrath of Yaya for us. Thats not the case. As black people, we are fighting a different battle against discriminations of all sorts here in the West and i believe if we were back home, that fight would have been the fight against the ongoing tyranny. There is no faith in the Gambia. When people have no faith, they cannot fight for their rights. Such people shall remain in the darkness and others will always urinate on their heads telling them its rain. They will shower, bathe and drink these so-called elites' urine.
