A symposium was recently held on May 10, 2006 here at Russell Square in Uk recently, as featured in the events calender of the Bantaba , under the auspices of the following:-
Speaker - Gibril Faal, Chairman of AFFORD/ Director of G/C Partrners
Pro. Ade Adeguye - Special Adviser, Political Affairs Division Commonwealth Secretariat
James Bahoum - Secretary General, Movement for Restoration of Democracy in Gambia
Any information. materials, highlights, presentations and discussions available from this symposia. What is "Movement for Democracy in Gambia"? Is it a political party, lobby group, activists, its advocacy, its nature and who are behind the scenes?

Kobo, I thought you are based in the UK. Movement for Restoration of Democracy in Gambia is a NADD support group in the UK.
I think perhaps you could write to the e-mail address provided in the events calender for this symposium for "materials, highlights, presentations" . |

| Thanks Momodou but want it through Bantaba for the benefit of the public to review with any special interests and provoke further debates. |

it was a good discussion quite lively but was surprised at how many non-gambians where there. All the speakers were well informed and passionate abuot gambia Pro. Ade Adeguye - Special Adviser, Political Affairs Division Commonwealth Secretariat made a statement that sticks out. The commonwealth union sends obersvers to countries when voting is happening. At the last election the opposition to Yaya lost by 48 to 52, when asked about this a spokesperson for the opposition said they lost because they did not have the funds to mount a campaign. how sad because of lack of finances the opposition lost.
I see this in ther countries somethimes it is the wealthly party that wins, not the best party. Could that happen now if gambia went to the elections to do the opposition have funds to mount a campaign or promotion of some kind. Hope this helps.
