http://observer.gm/africa/gambia/article/ex-igp-badjie-weeps-in-court-pleads-not-guilty-as-he-two-others-answer-to-30-criminal-charges

The former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ensa Badgie, aka Jesus, who is widely considered the Gambia's most powerful IGP ever, wept in court yeterday Monday as he pled not guilty to 32 counts of criminal defamation of President Jammeh in a drug and money laundering web.
Jesus is often remembered for telling his officers to either support President jammeh or leave the police force and find another job.

"When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it." Luke19:41

That was Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Here we have Jesus of Gambia weeping in court, squeezed by laws his ugly hands helped come to life. There are more people to weep as the merciless betrayer chooses to deliver another sacrifice. All those playing around Yaya will one day cry away from him. That is the game.

Weep not Ensa.

One cannot help it but ironically sympathize with these people. When human beings have low self esteem and have faith in leaders and not God this is what happens to them.

You wonder what goes on in their minds when they were on top of the world (office)? What were they thinking and now in front of the whole world being accused of what they have done to others, what is going on in their minds?

It is sometimes good to have a taste of your own medicine. I think Gambians needs to be taught a lesson for real. These people have no faith whatsover. Jammeh knows his customers.

Kayjatta, I think your boy is crying again, check out the story from the daily observer.

Friday, May 07, 2010
Ensa Badjie, the ex-inspector general of police wept again, this time as he was being escorted out of the courtroom yesterday.

Dressed in a green three-quarter Khaftan, and flanked by prison warders, Ensa Badjie, who is standing trial with two others on 28 criminal charges wiped tears off eyes with his left hand. At the commencement of the trial yesterday, Justice Emmanuel Amadi of the High Court in Banjul, adjourned two separate criminal cases to 10th May 2010.

The first case is the one involving ex-IGP Ensa Badjie, Lt Colonel Mam Matarr Secka and Major Kuluteh Manneh; while the second is the one involving Ibrahim Bun Sanneh, Karamo Bojang, and Ousman Sanneh, former executive director, deputy director and director of operations respectively of the National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDEA) and one Marie Sanneh. The High Court judge's decision to adjourn the two cases came after the court was reliably informed about the untimely death of President Umaru Musa Yar' Adua of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Justice Emmanuel Amadi further advanced that the decision to adjourn the cases were in accordance with observance of two days mourning of Nigerian nationals in The Gambia. It could be recalled that the director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Richard Chenge, on Monday May 3rd, filed in 28 fresh amended charges against the former IGP, Ensa Badjie and two ex-military officers in the persons of Lt Colonel Mam Matarr Secka and Major Kuluteh Manneh after he amended the original 32 criminal charges.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to all the 28 counts charged, out of which the former IGO Ensa Badjie is facing 12 counts ranging from abuse of office, official corruption, obtaining money by false pretence all contrary to the laws of The Gambia. The first and second accused persons, Ensa Badjie and Mam Matarr Secka respectively, were represented by Borry Touray, who had expressed his intention to make an oral application of bail for his clients, while the third accused person, Kuluteh Manneh, who had no legal representation was asked by the court to get one for the interest of expeditious hearing of the case. The case is now adjourned to Monday 10th May 2010, for hearing.

Bun Sanneh & Co
Justice Amadi also adjourned the case involving Bun Sanneh and three others, who were originally charged with 12 counts of criminal offences ranging from conspiracy to commit felony, theft, aiding and abetting, unlawful possession of firearms among others all contrary to the laws of The Gambia.

It could be recalled that at the last adjourned date of May 4th, DPP Richard Chenge informed the court about the prosecution's intention to file more charges against the accused persons. He backed up his submission with revelations that the prosecution has received additional information concerning the accused persons.

The DPP further applied for the withdrawal of the criminal charges against the fifth accused person, Alieu Samba on the ground that he (Alieu Samba) would be used as a prosecution witness against the accused persons. The DPP's application for an adjournment was objected to by the defence counsel Kebba Sanyang and PC Secka, who applied to move their motion for a bail on behalf of their clients. This objection made DPP Chenge to respond, saying he needed time to study the documents and reply to the defence.

At that juncture, presiding judge Justice Emmanuel Amadi ruled in favour of the DPP, saying the prosecution needs time to reply to the application made by the defence. The case is now adjourned to Monday 10th May 2010 for hearing.

Yes Moe, I read it last night. Its sympathetic, Jesus should be man enough to face his jail cell at the Sheraton Hotel (Mile II prison). He should be grateful to the Chairman. Atleast he is getting a break time away from jail by coming to court. I am sure he has sent or cause to be sent others who never had a chance to appear in court...
