Should it turn into a situation where the men in uniform get fined for drug dealings, will it not provoke curious scrutiny of Chairman Jammeh having played a hand in the deal at all?

Jammeh has to say how clean he stands. Though we know he is exempted from prosecution, but does that include drug related crimes?

Good points Karamba! I think Jammeh's image and reputation is tainted already and as this drug and money laundering scandal unfolds in court and in the public square, we can only expect more damage to the integrity of the Jammeh presidency.
The cases of IGP 'Ensa Badgie v. the State'; and Chief of the Drug Squad 'Bun Sanneh v. the State' could seriously implicate the President's office if the defense chooses to, albeit at their own peril.
However, even in the worse case scenario, Jammeh will almost certainly sail through this scandal. If the President is significantly implicated in court testimonies by witnesses and other evidence,( which is very possible if the defense attorneys pursue that line of questioning),the only possible way to rein in on Jammeh may perhaps be the Gambia's equivalent of an indictment by a 'grand jury' to be followed by an impeachment if sufficient evidence exist that he may have committed a crime. He will flout it anyway, and both the judiciary and the legislature (National Assembly)have nothing to enforce a testimony from the President.
Even were a testimony was enforced, an impeachment will not proceed in the current National Assembly because of not only the APRC rubberstamp majority, but also because Jammeh has the powers to dissolve the National Assembly or fire individual lawmakers at any time.
All these actions will be futile exercise, except that the debacle will result in further erosion of the President's credibility and respect similar to what happened to Jawara during the corruptions scandals of his last years in office...

To start with, Yaya Jammeh began his greedy scheme of corruption and exploitation in various ways. It is now getting clearer (it was always clear) that Yaya has never been out to do good for Gambia.

Corrupt and exploitative bandits from around the globe have joined in to rob Gambia by nefarious schemes aided by Jammeh. He has a share of everything in dirty money and drugs running around Gambia. Those long held secrets are now spilling out.

The only motive for Yaya stealing Gambian constitution and tearing it apart is so that he takes shelter of bad rules he calls laws.

This state of affairs cannot stay on. Down with Yaya along his wicked scheme of exploitation and senseless corruption.

It appears that the drug dealing crime for which Jammeh's top men are taken to court is treated less severe than the affair of bad mouthing the president in their claims that he commissioned them as his drug peddling agents.

Which of the two is more of national issue or threat to public welfare? To say that Yaya auhorized them sell drugs or the very act of drug dealing?

If they are charged for bad mouthing Yaya and no talk about drugs involved, then it is logically conclusive that Yaya is part of the drug affair and that is why the drug crime is muted about.

Can someone help to enlighten us on this matter of grave public interest?

Lot more thanks Lemon Time

To you Moe, what exactly is your problem? Why are you so bitter? Get this clear once and for all. You are free to spill out your bladder contents to please yourself. You can't stop these facts flowing. My mission is to inject life for sick and near dead truth especially about Gambia.

Go ahead with your vexation if it tastes sweet and enjoyable. I have more to feed in now that it is clear there are lots like you. You are only you and can't feel for others. Better still, don't read what you choose not.

To borrow from Kitabul Arerr the relevant question, "are you OK Moe?"
Where can we fine despair and lower life? Hmmmm.

Is Yaya Jammeh in drug dealings?

Now to serious people, remember this thread began long before Ensa Badjie named Yaya in the drug pushing venture. It is now more relevant as to ask the question

Is our president in drug dealings?
