Kobo, you seem to be at each other's throats with Bamba. I am not sure if you will ever finish your business. Both of you seem to see life from a different angle. Anyway that is healthy.

We all do not have to tow the same line otherwise life will be boring. Do we need some winter here. It is very hot.

Don't worry Kondorong, we all have lessons to learn in life. Its part of this exercise and it will progress amicably.

I like your spirit. You raise the dust so high and then make the rain to clear it.

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always.”

people starve in ethiopia whilst its government spends millions on a stupid war over a few cm along the border. 1000km away mountains of cassava/yams are rotting in west africa

by the time you agree or disagree with me Nigeria would have earned enough money to solve her problems if she wished to do so.

Africa's problems are african made by African governments. the two examples you chose clearly show that its the government making all the problem. now, how about lets get back to a more human level and at least feel compassion for people who are struggling and abused

Bamba, sorry but that statement is really a killer. Imagine that a toubab was saying things like that but in the other way.

I certainly don't agree, there are nice blacks and nice toubabs. You have nice people in every culture; certainly you have a lot of bad people within any society. And even the characteristic as being the nicest for all the blacks is not really serious. For example the attitude of africans from West-africa and Southern Africa is very different. The same fenomenon occurs here in Europe: there is a big difference in attitude between someone of southern europe (Italy) and eastern europe (Russia, Poland).

So being nice had nothing to do with race or skin colour but is a result of the invidual character, his education and the society where he or she was raised.
Greetz

Jede, lets be real, as a race, come on really, who's been nice and who's been naughty. who's caused human extinctions, mass rapes, massacres, stolen from others like it ain't nobodies business and then now is reaping the benefits of this insane actions. really, come on. could you really think, in the 21st century that you whites are in power because of your hardwork.

i contribute too, at least i try to but it seems like to me that some of the toubabs on here still think that colonialism never ended so they're always acting shocked when i say something they don't like. they get on nerves.

The court case of a 22 year old beaten to death by drunks has just finished here i Sweden. The case had a national coverage. The guy was just trying to stop a group of drunks from urinating at the entrance of an apartment in town. Some interventions to help are just impulsive, I dont mean those ones, I mean helps with no strings attached.

The individual helps pouring in Gambia can also be seen from an other angle. The next door neighbours without help may force their kids to go to the beach to look for toubab help. Subsequently, Gambia will be full of recipient families of toubab helps. Most toubabs helping Gambian families are after their own interest. Besides, they owe allegiance to their white supremacy. The rich and supreme toubab is here to help, all the toubab needs as remunertion is access to the young boys and girls.

really some whites do think that!!! in my African Studies class one day a guest speaker came cause he wanted to talk about his experience as a teacher in Botswana. he said: " here i was, thinking that i knew everything, you know, i'm the great white teacher..." i got up and left. bull like that pisses me off. and sadly a lot of toubabs have that stupid superiority attitude. why are so many toubabs so insecure that they need to claim superiority every five seconds. its like the bully in middle school that torments everybody, claiming superiority when she or he has the worst self esteem out of everyone.

Bamba I guess the only thing that would make you happy is that we whities disappear from this forum! Is this what all gambians here want? Let me know

Bamba please take note of your persona in this forum. I have unfinished business with you but am sorry with these statements. Stop being arrogant, racist and exposing your inferior complex.

he is not being racist, why do whites now try to play the race card!!! oh my goodness, so he said a few honest things about whites that are not pleasant, so what, the truth is the truth is the truth, i normally don't get along with bamba but still, some of you whites NEED to stop being so sensitive about everything. as blacks, we have the right to be pissed off and express that ESPECIALLY on the Bantaba.
to be honest, i'm disappointed that more of our black sisters and brothers don't speak out more

I was right about you the first time kassma, and should have went with my instincts instead of apologising to you - you have got a big chip on you shoulder about white people.
Yes our ancestors have done many bad things and some still continue to do it. We are very aware,(we are taught about it continuously in our own country, so we dont need a history lesson from you thanks very much.)
Some people seem to "get off " on trying to rub toubabs faces in it every chance they get. It may astound you but i am not responsible for the sins of my ancestors, ashamed yes, but responsible no. The original posting was about England, next thing we know bamba couldnt wait for an opportunity to "have a go at toubabs".
Unfortunatly yourself and bamba are preaching to the wrong people, because 99.9 percent of people on this site are DECENT. You should really be putting your energies into dealing with the real racists in the big bad world, not on a site which is full of people who genuinely like Gambian people and want to help. You said that Bamba said "a few honest things about whites that are not pleasant, but the truth is the truth" - really, when did yourself and Bamba become an expert on white people. According to Bamba the majority of people who go to Gambia(are my husband and I included) are usually paedophilles, unhappy at home, and are helping gambians because of what they can get out of it. - really? I came on this site to learn about Gambia, not to be told on a daily basis how terrible we toubabs are. Negativity, negativity, constantly on this site - I despair. Oh, but we are being "too sensitive", ok then i will let Bamba imply that because I am a toubab I might be a paedophille, user, etc. why would that possibly upset me Kassma????????

what happened here, it became personal.
Gambiaeve, go back to gambia and help one child. I do not believe the villagers will be envious, they will be hapy that you have chosen theire village. I do believe in the chinese proverb and support educatioon that is why i am supporting a school.
Bamba can i ask the beginning of this was happiness in england, why did you not start your own thread about the unhappiness you feel.

I understand that things are bad in Gambia, when I first went there it was cheap and people and had plentiful. Now it has changed is that the toubabs fault.

This is getting ridicoulus

A typical "toubab" attitude is building up here and I'm starting to feel ashamed, is there any point trying to have a civilised discussion?Where maybe WE could learn something? No of course not, we are superior,we are the best, we know everything.....
Once again, you can take the donkey to the river but you can't make him to drink.
But I'm just a stupid toubab so I will join my stupid friends and keep quiet, like them, because there is no point.I've been told this several times but I just wouldn't believe.
Well, I have learnt something on this bantaba.Gambians and generally blacks are sooo right about us, how they see us,and that makes me feel very ashamed

Twinkly says "blacks are soo right about us" - oh i see so i should listen and accept when someone tells me that as a white woman I am more inclined to commit random acts, like pushing myself in bushes and beating myself up. Or that the Majority of toubabs going to Gambia, are paedophilles, or helping people with strings attached (some do). I should listen and accept, because if I dont then its because Im superior - give me a break.

How much of an IQ does it take for some toubabs in Bantaba to understand the difference between "some" and "most". Am very cautious of making the mistake (as most whites do about blacks; stereotyping) of blanket condemnation. I have never and will never accuse all western tourists travelling down to Gambia. Tourism is 16% strong in gambia's economy, otherwise I would have advocated for its closure. Moral decadence is a halmark of modern tourism.
It really disturbs me when SOME people cant understand very, very, simple words in their own language. What kind of calibres are we talking about here? Just wondering.
