Coming back to the phobia or phsychological depiction of the political situation equates with a crafty setting up of certain loyal cronies from a portion of the society that communicates well with you and to whom protection and consolidation of mutual interests is assured from them.

Its invincible to properly depict the facts of tribalism but certain experiences and proper understanding of the society and local conditions make you vividly sense them as clandestinely being instituted exerting feelings of PARANOID!!!!

Tribalism is an AFRICAN NORM and VOCAB????

Cultural heritage is very important for society but culture and roots are moral political tools. The cultural mix and dominance of certain priviledge groups arouse suspicion of tribalism at play in politics. A typical case is THE CASAMANCE SEPARATIST, TAMIL IN SRI-LANKA etc.

That was the battle with Lang Tombong at the state guard, as far as i was aware, and there might be more as you are telling me. I very well agree with you that Lang is humble and all that, but frankly he cannot escape it, because a lot of people are angry, feelings are hurting Madi.It will be hard to distinguish national service for a country, and that of aiding a dictator. Eventually, he will fall a trap of what happened to other folks who were also centered on a similar sentiment- i mean Dr. Sedat Jobe, Blaise Jagne, and the rest of that team that were in for good.

Sorry Dalton Landing is from Kawali not Aronkong.

Have gathered a lot from it but wish to elaborate on certain similarities, make some distinctions and clarifications on how tribalism is suspected to be institutionalize in both the previous political order and the present one . The so called "teri kafo" political mafia style was suspected to be comprised of certain elites and/ or those with certain priviledges gained ground under a different political order and government of that day. The political state at that time reached a climax where we started sensing certain signals, inclinations and psychological phenomena to have existed or formed them informally through our perception of the state of affairs.. At that time the ‘underworld unknown group’ considered as “teri-kafo” because of tribal linings as that word appears to be Mandinka as those days appear to be very vibrant as a major tribe. The Mandinka word was coined in just to describe another mafia system. Now the current political order have similar phenomena prevailing and psychologically feared to be there but invincible. We could say what you describe as “teri-kafa” , which authoritatively execute mafia political style of undermining policies is institutionalize under the current government and various names can be used to describe them; as different forms of mafia exist for your information.

Therefore in my opinion forget about the defunct “teri-kafo” you knew earlier and focus on the revived one or steered under the present government which any suitable name for a mafia can be used to describe it.

Chalo,
Some of the former members of TERI KAFO are now pulishing Jammehs shoes. Today he has given some good posts. They are then part of Jammehas mafia if there is any.

Alhassan,

I am with you on the understanding that people of same interest orientation flog together. Exploitative groups are formed on the motives of personal gain. Such group may compose of people with different language or ethnic bearing. Some of the people sucking the juice with Jammeh today are no Jola. Lot of Jolas suffered during the past era and for many life is no difference having Jammeh as president. We have Mandinka exploiters, Fula exploiters, Wollof exploiters, and Serrer exploiters. They feed on others as way of living. It is only when matters go rough that they play the tribal or ethnic tune. It is rather unfortunate to whip every Jola for the wrong reason. Jammeh may be seen exhibiting a Jola sentiment but not all Jolas agree with that perception. The bottom line is that opportunism is a universal lifestyle.

The cost of bag of rice appear to be round D600 to 750 nowadays.

The average cost of living and daily basic needs (breakfast, lunch & dinner) might work out as follows:

Cost of Bag of Rice (Monthly) = D 20 to D 30 cups/day (D650 to D750 per bag)
Oil, Veg. & Condiments = D 150 to D 250
Meat or Fish (per Kilo) = D 200 to D 300
Tea, milk, bread & butter = D 100 to D 200
Kids School Pocket money = D 5 to D 15 per kid
Travel Greater Banjul = D 50 to D 100 for family

Therefore total for day = D 505 to D 865 taking into account inflation.

You may need D15,150 to D25,950 for 30 days to run your family welfare as it stands. Money comes from abroad and helps quite a lot.

Sorry!

When an old African dies, it is as if a whole library has burnt down.
