Muslims: Terrorism is against Islam
The Joint Council of Danish Muslims distances itself from those arrested in the U.S. on chagres of planning a terrorist attack against Jyllands-Posten.
The Joint Council of Danish Muslims says that terrorism runs contrary to Islam, its values and basic principles and has condemned plans by two men arrested in the United States on charges of preparing attacks in Denmark.
”An attack on any target is the same as an attack on an entire society and its people. We are therefore relieved that the imminent terrorist attack seems to have been averted,” the Council says in a release.
The Council’s comments come following disclosures yesterday of the arrests in Chicago on October 3rd and 18th of an American - David Coleman Headley (né Daood Gilani), 49, and a Canadian - Tahawwur Hussain Rana, 48, on charges of conspiracy to commit terrorist acts in Denmark.
“The Joint Council of Muslims stresses that an act of this type would be directly against Islam’s basic principles and core values. Any act of terrorism is and will always be incompatible with Islam,” the Council says.

A spokesman of the General Secretariat of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Jeddah expressed concern on the reported attempt on the life of the Danish cartoonist, who drawn the offensive and derogatory cartoons of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) in 2005.
The OIC spokesperson stated that if the alleged attempt on the life of the Danish cartoonist is proven to have been committed as a reaction to the infamous cartoons of 2005, then it should be rejected as it runs totally against the teachings and values of Islam.

sorry, but we keep hearing that these atrocious attacks are "totally against the teachings and values of Islam.", and yet they keep on happening to people who dare to criticise, comment or joke about Islam.
Do irish people go around decapitating people who make irish jokes?
Do other religious factions set fire to embassies when they are laughed at or about?
The whole point of being human is to have a sense of humour. offensive and racist comedy is as old as time itself.
It is is not lovely or even acceptable, but there are proper channels to exclude such behaviour which do not involve axing a man who drew a cartoon, or beheading a man who wrote a play or suicide bombing an embassy .
Do we have to now vet and censor any form of commentary on anything in the world?
Or do we just have to run scared on fair or unfair commentary on Islam for fear of revenge attacks and murder?
It is a disgrace and takes us back to pre-mediaeval attitudes and conditioning.
I know it is the small minority we keep hearing about, but who the heck is actually doing anything about it?
It's all words...no more than postured sensibilities. Nothing proactive seems to be done.

May be you, I, and all inclusive can ask Osama Bin ladin and his al-qaida network to reform their interpretation of the verses, the same way the united nations should have stopped George Bush, Tony Blair and their allies in attacking other countries. Just between me and you, terror doesn't have a place in Islam. I will be publishing a sermon from an Imam, recently on january 1st 2010 in Minnesota, where he referenced verses and hadiths that terror is not permitted in islam. God willing, I will share it with you.

hi dalton.
the piece echoes many of the sentiments often uttered here.
why is there not louder interference from the respected, peaceful elders?
why are radicals allowed to brainwash disaffected youths?
why is the religion allowed to be hijacked for corroborating such unspeakable acts?
why do the vast majority let this cancer foment and ferment in their midst?
lots of why's.
history is full of dimwits being duped by their intellectual superiors.
But , maybe, rarely can 1.2 billion people have so singularly failed to stop the spread of this evil "religious",bainwashing which goes on under their very noses and open eyes.
Such a shame, because the good will inevitably get tarred with the same brush.
Not saying that invading iraq/afghanistan has any justification either, but nothing in a bible or religious text involved there...more like oil..!
i wrote years ago here, that gambia is a fertile breeding ground for such radicalisation..i still think it is. I implored gambians to watch and report. there is a spread of this kind of ideology to the poor, disenfranchised west african people.

Politically brainwash, that is where all this began in 70 ,80s around globe.
One on the mission a kind of jihad, and the other on the war mission of mineral resource while both not knowing or accepting that one day they will all become loser and now hunting one another around globe by all means, and keep hiding truth by changing everything formally to political /religion motivation in evil ways.
If you are good Muslim, just keep yourselves from this act of evil and promotes Islam in accordingly with tongue and biro this is a real jihad. Yes jihad, sound terrible in some ears but unlike Latin word of terror (terrere)
That is because they do not know the meaning of jihad.
Never mind if some calls you a terrorist, keep teaching and preaching by tongue and pen. Remember even though you keep saying and singing that this act of evil is opposing to Islam some will not come close to you, particular those who hate Islam with some other reasons but have no fear and do no wrong, nothing should keep you out of your way and duty remember that everyone is accountable of what you do.
