Overall, a 'good' speech-I mean it could have been much worse. I have been holding my breadth all along for the totally unexpected... I like the first part of the speech; the figurative terms "locusts" and "drought" referring to development partners and international debt respectively. But I think Jammeh needs to understand that international relations and relations with development partners and contractors are generally relationships based on self interest. Therefore, state dealings with international contractors cannot be adequately addressed by rambling at the U.N. Perhaps the appropriate way to deal with reource exploitation is collective bargaining by countries with those resources against countries with the technology to excavate or process. Perhaps this brings in the relevance of A.U. as a potential unified trading bloc and collective bargaining.
The middle of the speech is almost all Jammeh's usual petty racist whining, and a lame attempt to justify his (and other) dictatorships.
The last part is an argument for the pending cases of Taiwan, Cuba, and Morocco especially. No Surprises there. That is plainly inspired by Jammeh's "pocket-book" as both Taiwan and Cuba are the main parts of Jammeh's "World Bank", while Morocco is home to our "Confidence", Madam Zainab Jammeh and perhaps Jammeh second home. The last time I checked, Morocco wasn't a member of the AU and its predecessor OAU. Morocco instead aspires is lobbying for EU membership. There is no problem with that at all, but it is perhaps important to know that Mobutu Sesse Seku (MObutu, The All Powerful) also died in Morocco (and so what?)...

why don't they stop crying to the U.N .they should grow-up and start taking responsibility for africa's poor state.they are the ones stealing africa's resources or greatly facilitating it.am just sick of these hypocrites and now he can go and boast back home that he came and told the white men the bitter truth.am sure he will be kissing some whites' asses before leaving.

It's a story to be told. At least I didn't give up after many transfers to that "JAMMEH" extension ...with hang-ups daily! Yester-night, at 10.00pm CT, (11.00 ET), I called and the hotel receptionist tranfered me...then a deep voice answered, and I said "Can I speak with Yaya Jammeh?" A DEEP voice echoed "IS THIS THE WAY YOU ASK FOR THE PRESIDENT?" I added "YES! ISN'T HE A RENOWNED DICTATOR?" Then the deciple hung up. I tried again, and this time...the guy was panicking and firing missiles of insults and hung up. I tried again and had the voice message and left a message for him. If I had held onto my tempers and pretended to be an APRC supporter, I would have sneaked right to him, but my instinct won't let me pretend. Besides, If I want Jammeh's GSM cell phone (accessible outside the Gambia), I can easily get it. In march 2009, I spoke with one of the aides he is currently with, that is Alagi Martin. The Gambia is very small!

Earlier on, I was notified that he succeeded in having his meeting in CLOSED DOORS with some of his supporters at the Ritz C. It was a no-go for non-supporters.

With regards to his speech at the UN summit, My english teacher Quinton Cummings used to say "They speak to you like angels and they behave like stupid human beings." The case for Jammeh is an extreme one. The irony as far as I am concerned is beyond hypocrisy. It is a combination of complexity, dictatorship, power greed, spitefulness, sickness, etc...With Jammeh's recent threats televized on the feast of fasting, what else can any sane person say about Jammeh of good or supporting his innocence....and it looks like he is not learning from any of past lessons. Here is Jammeh openly saying he will supervise "execution" of people, instead of referencing the law. In the end, if any one is killed or disappears, he should be held accountable. Period!

Thank you all for your rejoinders...

... Mr. President,
There cannot be peace and security in the absence of justice for all. There cannot be justice in the face
of abject poverty characterized by hunger and starvation, disease, and lack of basic social services as a
result of exploitation. There cannot be justice if there is merciless exploitation, suppression and criminal
invasions of sovereign states. There cannot be peace if there is no development as a result of
marginalization, injustice and racism ...

Jammeh is total disgrace more to himself and of course mankind. Why would he pose as mouth piece of whole Africa while playing the cruel despot in that once peaceful country?

You know what, let this man wash off. He has blood and dirty money all around him. There are more serious issues hanging over his neck. In a life time, Jammeh will never be leading Africa as a voice. He is a jester.

Get this hypocritical stuff out of the way:

"There cannot be peace and security in the absence of justice for all. There cannot be justice in the face
of abject poverty characterized by hunger and starvation, disease, and lack of basic social services as a
result of exploitation. There cannot be justice if there is merciless exploitation, suppression and criminal
invasions of sovereign states. There cannot be peace if there is no development as a result of
marginalization, injustice and racism." - Jammeh UN New York 24 -09-09

Yet another:

"Unfortunately, injustice, racism, merciless exploitation and marginalization of especially the Developing
nations
Gambian masses by the Developed nations Yahya Jammeh are the order of the Day."

Hi Jammeh, stop fooling yourself.

Jammeh did it again, showing the greatness of fighting for the poor and the oppressed. The speech was fine and I congrdulate him for its maturity. You see the man is getting better and better. Well done Mr. Jammeh

It is the mark of intelligence to entertain an idea without accepting it.

Greetings Everyone

Jammeh call for Africa to represented in the Security council is of paramount importance and it is also vital for Africa to have power over her own natural resources to solve her chronic socio-economic problems. Jammeh's speech to the United nation is that of an independent mature African leader speaking on behalf of the African Union with Africa's interests at heart. The issues he has raised need to be addressed to eradicate poverty and high morality rates on the continent caused by externalities imposed on Africa by the multinationals who are purely interested in explioting Africa's national resources at its peoples expense. in fact if they would prefer it if the continent was empty so that they could just pilliage it without any resistance. That's why it has taken them 27 years to come up with a suitable HIV/AID's vaccine. Yet, still it will take at least another two decades for Africans at home to benefit from the drug, and it is Africans who have been affected the most by this man-made diease.

The only clown on the bantabaa is you Karamba!
Karamba your response to Jammeh's Speech underlines the shallowness of your intelligence neither use or ornament.

Karamba your comments on Jammeh's speech can only be described as an imbecile with his head so far up his own arse in desperate need of a an anaema to free his brain from all the verbal constipation which is corking it up. I would suggest you seek immediate elevation of your infliction with some bitters i.e. ceresee it's very effective you know!

Once you've relieved yourself, then maybe we can get some intelligent conversation from you. I know I must be praying for a miracle but one can only live in hope! I definitely wouldn't hold my breath. Remember don't give up the day job just not yet. Once you get the confirmation for you retraining at Kanilai then it will be safe to do so!

Dalton pull the other one.

You mean to tell me that you couldn't book a flight to New York, and wait for the Gambian Delegation to arrive, and book an interview with Jammeh? Dalton unless you have a direct line to Jammeh how could you possibly expect him to pick up the phone. Come on you're trying to make out your a Professional Journalist and Jammeh comes over to the US and you can't get an interview with him? Alas Bro you need to take a Professional Journalist course. Seriously I'm sure they'll tell you how to get an interview with a Head of State.

Moe

I've invested in some replaceable disposible steletoe heals for my shoes because they kept getting stuck in some unseemly cervices leaving their victims quite corked up and an unpleasant stench.

Anyway Moe! Yes ...until the colour of a man's is no more significance than the colour of his eyes... every where shall be WAR! Until that day full world citizenship, equal rights and justice will be a fleeting illusion which will be pursued and never obtained.... Everywhere will be WAR! War in the East War in the west, War up North, WaR Down South!... We African will fight if necessary. extracts of HIM Selessie 1935 Speech at the League of nation, eloquently sung by Bob Marley.

Peace
