In the end The very bitter end Struck with such venomous force Sat the beaten Head lowered in shame Distrust measuring the gaze This is the face of disgrace Witness the gloom of defeat The winner sits in foolish vainglory Lord and master of the downtrodden They do not laugh Nor do they smile They do not speak Nor do they acknowledge All they do is sit in gloomy silence Mulling over their sorry state Wondering what could have been And what it has become for them In the short lovely past they lived In false security None believing they shall fall Down to the lowest level Now spat on as worthless and doomed Their sunset came as a surprise Making them will a rebirth That perhaps they can rejoin the heights of glory Now fixed at a lowly level There seemingly bereft of any hopeful respite While all around are hooting mocking folk Who join in this sadistic feat They simply take that as fate Dished out to them A feast that they were not prepared for Alone in a multitude They trudge along the dusty road Longing to reach its end Knowing not what lies ahead Despondent and flushed They simply walk that dusty path With no hope of joy Crying is beyond them Perhaps it is better to lie down and die Even then what follows is another worry As they care about what dignity They finally gain thus A donkey's kick to dust Cannot mask The fart

quote: A donkey's kick to dust Cannot mask The fart
I’ve often heard when donkeys throws a kick, throwing back equals revenge but it equally makes one virtually a donkey (Courtesy of traditional proverb), and rightly concluded in the poem, “a donkey’s kick to the dust cannot mask the fart.” …typical of a kicking donkey with its two legs throwing cluster bombs to clear and innocent skies. Perhaps, “Fallidamfo,” the title of the poem is well calculated in our today’s Gambia where “bullying” of innocent people has become order of the day. In the end, I am afraid a type of “fallidamfo” simplified as “self-defense” will find its head sprouting. It was this editorial I read from Sarjo Bayang titled “jungle justice” that echoed in my head as I came to the finishing point of your poem. Beyond that, I hope God Almighty sees the victims of “Fallidamfo” and at once God says “BE!” and that’s final. Happy belated fasting & take greater care.

You are wonderful bro , hitting it squarely as it where , that was a neat shot one can classify as a marksman bull-shot, bravo and amen to that call of yours, "fa inama amuruhu izaarada say an , anya kullallaho kunfaya kuun."The patient dog certainly gets his fat bone one day and that shall be his day too !insha Allahu. The ignorant though read these as the cries of the hopeless alas they are the losers for indeed Allah shall always come to the rescue of the oppressed, time will surely tell.By these few seemingly hopeless cries I share the relief of the journalists who were made to suffer the horrors of unjustified incarceration by a heartless tyrant, who is too silly and so stupid as to think people are impressed by his acts as those of bullying then coming up with bogus pardons. Presidential Pardons my foot, that was not a pardon but a face saving gambit that is all.The journalists have not been cowed and they came out the victors in this charade, long live the free and long live freedom of expression, down with oppression. |
