http://suntoumana.blogspot.com/2009/08/ramadan-commence-on-saturday-22.html
Ramadan commence on Saturday the 22
This year's Ramadan has brought us some collective unity in the Muslim community. Ramadan will start on Saturday which is the consensus of all major mosques and community groups this year.
Saudi Arabai, Egypt, and all African countries are likely to start ramadan tomorrow. Let us all hope that Allah bless us with a rewarding Ramadan. We change for the better and become tolerant and spiritually upright.
I will post the common erros that people do in ramadan.
Suntoumana welcomes ramadan. suntou's advice is: read much Qur'an and ponder over the verses. Life is not the end in itself, it is the way to another.
Our wealth, health, achievements and friends are all temporal. At most we enjoy not more than 40 years in a life time. The rest are just numbers. After age forty a number of men can't even function quiet well, sex even becomes a problem. After sixty, we enter a new phrase of senior citizenship.
Man is more or less a self-evident warner to him/her self. nothing should make us stop our prayers and good actions. May Allah/God accept our efforts for his sake only.
I Pray that, Allah/God forgive our sins/errors. Give us the heart to be able to ponder over his existence and greatness. Ramadan kareem!

Surah- Ar-Rum 30-22
"And among His signs is the creation of heavens and the earth, and the difference of your languages and colours. verily, in that are indeed signs for men of sound knowledge." Qu'ran

Santanfara, thank you for the prayers.

My advise to our muslim brothers and sisters is to maintain patience and engage only in good speeches.

Translation:
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (saws) said, "He who believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him show hospitality to his guest; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him maintain good relation with kins; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Explanation:
To honour a guest means to welcome him cheerfully, entertain him happily according to our capacity and have full regard of his comfort and rest. As for our relatives, we are supposed to treat them nicely and to do our duty towards them. Reserve in speech implies that we should avoid senseless and irrelevant talk. We are apt to pass most of our time in the remembrance of Allah, seeking His forgiveness and saying what is good to everybody. Or we better keep silent. These three qualities are possessed by those people who believe in Allah and the Day of Reckoning. In other words, those who lack these qualities portray only a weak and imperfect Faith.

As Salamu Alaikum Waramatullah Wabarakatu

Indeed Concort. A fitting Hadith for a month of sharing and humility. some people have adopted a ramadan exchange. this means they break their fast at a friend's house, and then the reverse happen on a routine basis.
It seems good. I have been invited for such by some families and i think it will increase our love and respect for one another. although, i will hesitate to wellcome the sanyang kunda and camara domoris.
Ramadan Kareem to all. Where is Mawdo Dalton? I hope ramadan don't get to you. have a bless month. amen

Allah accepts your fasting.....Happy Ramadan....

So why fast? It is good to control the desires. Also, appreciate what you have normally and be thankful Allah for everthing given to us.

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.
