Ramadan, Year 1430

My brothers and sisters in Islam, Asalaamu Alaykum Warahmatullah Wabarakatu. All thanks and praises are due to Allah (S.W.T) and may His blessings be upon our noble Prophet Muhammad, (S.A.W).

Ramadan is just around the corner and people are getting all excited. Why are we getting so excited? Is it because some of us are anxious to go on a diet and drop a few pounds? Nay! Fasting in the month of Ramadan is a divine command from Allah (S.W.T) and Allah says in the Holy Quran: "O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those who preceded you; that perhaps you will be mindful of God," (Quran 2:183).

In this coming month of Ramadan, some people are pledging to pray more, be honest, and be kinder to our parents. This should be our every day behavior as Muslims. We should strive to act the way we would act in Ramadan every other day of our lives. This is real faith. We should always fear Allah (S.W.T); engage in constant remembrance of Allah (S.W.T); read the Holy Quran frequently; beware of pride and arrogance; beware of backbiting; beware of showing off; lower your gaze; have more khushu in salat; call to Islam ( more Dawah); voluntarily fast for the sake of Allah (S.W.T) outside the month of Ramadan; pray in congregation; and feed the miskeen (the poor).

So, my brothers and sisters, it's time once again to look at ourselves critically, see where we have departed from the ways of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) and eradicate selfishness, ego, violence; and excel in love for all of mankind.

The importance of this divine month was reiterated by prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) when he said, "The month of Ramadan is the month of Allah, bringing His mercy and forgiveness to his servants." Ramadan is declared by Allah as a month of blessings, the Holy Quran, the greatest favor upon mankind was revealed during the month of Ramadan. The prophet called it a month of sympathy, and an equalizer between the rich and poor. It is also believed by Muslims that during the great month of Ramadan, the gates of Heaven (Jannah) are opened and the gates of hell ( Jahanam) are closed.

May Allah (S.W.T) accept our fasting in this coming Ramadan, forgive us all our sins, and guide us to the straight path. May Allah bless our parents, our children, and us all during Ramadan and throughout the year. May Allah bring us all closer to Him and to each other.

Wasalaam,

As Salamu Alaikum Waramatullah Wabarakatu

Bro Concort and all believers,

Happy bilated fasting.

I am sure the Serers, sarahulles and the kabunkas won't stop shooting (trying to kill) the sun at mid-day.

May Almighty God give us its true blessings and goodness.

Ramadhan Kareem!

Ameen, Dalton1...Ramadan Karim to you and your entire family. Here's another Hadith about the benefits of Ramadan:

As we all know the Prophet(pubh) said in an authentic Hadith that the first ten days of Ramadan is a blessing from Allah and the middle ten days is forgiveness from Allah and the last ten days is freedom from hell fire. I guess as Muslims, our number one goal is to save ourselves from the hell fire, then seek Jannah.
